I haven't tried the rls yet, but read somewhere that it might be due to a release date check. Try changing the time zone to hong kong & see if it starts.
Not sure if you're facing the same prob tho (thought it was crashing w/o error msg, but not sure), so report back results please.

Nops not working .. the same stupid error after run any mode it goes to a black screen and then the mouse pointer its big ( low resolution ) and only after the ctrl alt del it goes back to windows .. with that strange stupid retarded error ..
This is stupid releasing one of the most expected games of the YEAR with a BAD crack ... at least it wont work on win7 32b or 64b :\

Well I've heard that fixing it for most ppl, doesn't seem like a bad crack.
I googled around a bit & here's another possible solution:
Change your sample rate & bit rate to 24 bit, 44100 Hz.. (would expect 48khz to work out too)
In case you're not sure how to do it, here it is in a nutshell:
control panel -> hw & sound -> sound -> speakers -> properties -> advanced -> select from drop down list under 'default format' the settings I mentioned above.
Hope it does the trick..

Try latest drivers if you're on nVidia:
Windows Vista/7/8 32-bit

got steam installed? as always shitrow cracks wont work without even though the game itself doenst use the libs anymore. but the crack needs steam to be installed

Yep tryed with steam and the same black screen of death showing :\ ..
Also tryed with another pc and same ERROR !!
FIX the damn crack ! :\

Same problem.
It's a release date issue.
Go into date and time settings, change time zone to (UTC+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi. Worked perfectly then.

Reinstall the game and DON'T start the Multiplayer and Zombie modes afterwards. Only use the SP .exe.

Everything you guys are describing is what happened to me. Installed the game. Accidentally started Zombies first. Black screen and an error message. Looked here and changed the time to +8 and it worked.
@Sheeltox: Did you try removing all traces of the game after uninstalling?
What's your system specs and OS that you're using?

They are probably using the cracked copy too. I don't expect they will get help.

Maybe it's finally released everywhere & this datecheck they totally couldn't fix is finally not active at all? Pure speculation.
There's one more crack out now, but perhaps it's not needed after all.

I was getting regular crashes with both the Skidrow repack and 3DM cracks.
It always tends to happen on the same levels at similar points.
- Level 2 sometimes it crashes after getting the Celerium core
- Level 3 on Horseback
- Level 4 before getting control of Mason or before entering the Cocaine bunker
- Level 5 after failing the driving section, it sometimes crashes upon reloading checkpoints
Then I reverted back to the original, first Skidrow crack and played through Levels 6-8 without getting a single crash.
Might give the steam006 crack a try as well...

The only crack that worked for me is the Steam006 one. I used it with the skidrow release. But the game is cashing alot. Is the crack related or game related.

same problem i get black screen after seeing the windows cursor..
It doesn't work. I didn't change the windows time zone.
New laptop: i7-3630QM / 8GB / Nvidia 650M 1GB / 500GB
