Everything at max except soft shadows, noticed that AA hogged down the framerate for some reason in this game, so i turned it off.

Hey IDIOT, if you want to flame go to isonews! I know you are envious of my 7800GTX mommy bought me (*lol*), I´m just telling how things are. Maybe there´s an issue with this card and this game but I think that only the shadows are too much performance intense. Go to a friend, if you have one, with a 7800 GTX and see for yourself.
Hey wow, it runs 25+ fps with you card ? Great if you´re satisfied with this. Try getting 100 fps+ in BF2 @ 1280x1024, 4xAA, 8xAF, so WHAT to fix ? Btw., I never play CS. |
Meh, the point is, that when myself and -=Cartoon=- say that we can run it fine on a 6800, we just want to HELP, we want to tell you that "no, the game CAN run smooth, because it does so on our systems".
But you brats just keep on yelling and whining, cursing at the game, you dont ask whats wrong, how to fix it, or anything, you just fucking assume that the game is poor, not stopping for 1 second to think about that it MIGHT have something to do with YOUR system.

sure 85 fps isnt needed, but there is a big difference between 30 fps and 85 fps. while i wouldnt call 30 fps choppy, it definitely isnt fluid.
60 fps is fluid, and you dont need it more fluid than that.
if i was able to get this game to run at 40-50 fps constantly i d be damn happy, but thats not the case, i get less than 30 fps most the time.
i ve just got a new machine like 2 months ago:
3,2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, x750 pro 128 MB.
sure the gfx card isnt the fastest but it still should be able to run decently, doom 3 and hl2 both run at 50 fps constantly.

Mess around with the settings a bit and you should be able to get it running fine. It's all these computer noobs who seem to be having the problems. Because when a game doesn't automatically work perfectly after installing it they have no idea what to do.

FINALY FIXED PC RESTARTING !!!
Read on other forums:
UNISTALL FOLDER LOCK and works well

Now, for my otehr pc I forgot the fodler lock password and have no idea how to get rid of that thing.
AAAA crap !!
Game itself is ok.. better then doom... not sure about HL2

Thanks for the reply dude, though I do know that it will run ok on my system since it worked fine with my old graphic card (5900XT) and with 512 mb ram
So I just wanted to know how far I can get up the settings until the game begins to stutter.

Well all I can say is that it does really take alot of ram for it to run properly.
I got 2 gigs of ram and for those of you who want to check it out, look into your running processes. Fear takes 800 and something megs when it runs.
That frikkin alot if Id say so...lol...

If I where you I would select the resolution with the config.exe and leave the rest to the game. Is what I did.

Well, theres a hack that makes you invulnerable:
open your savegame files (*.sav, which are in c DOKUMENTS under "all users/shared/monolith/" or something like that) with a hex editor, search for a line called "DemoModeInvulnerable" and change the value to 1.000000. Now load the saveagme and you're invulnerable.
I've been searching all morning for some hack to allow you infinite slowmotion, but with no success. Maybe you guys have better luck!

Well, now I've just figured out what my problem is..
When I start the game, normally, you'll let of in -front of- the car...
I get out so I'm -behind- the car.. So I can't just over the car nor the container.. Which means that I'm not able to do shit! Except shoot the car a bit, but that's fun for like.. 2 secs? So...
What the hell!? What kind of bug is -that-? Tried to reinstall the game, but didn't work.. Is there some kind of noclip-mode, so I can just pass the damn car?
And I got no sound, cause I got a sound-card which got a freakin' dll-file that're not "digitally signed by Microsoft", so it's not 100% supportet, which this demo needs.. :/

finaly i made it work well with full sound and EAX:D till now i played it with no vocies:(...but now-i made it work well with the fix and with some hand fixes at the codecs folder-i had file name l3codeca.acm that somehow made the fix installation fault...and after i deleted that file and installed the fix again and reinstall the demo again...i have full sound:D
and man...i love it. enemy is so funny with the manoovers..aspecialy that one that drop the shelvs and crowling under it.

Now im sitting home alone shaking!!! Just beacuse i needed to try and play FEAR on acid!!!! OMFG!! IM going to die!!! I promise!!! That fucking girl is here in my fucking house!!!!!!!!!!!
