Not alot of experience with usenet, but can't you just post the releasename and let people search for themselves sausje?
So the problem here is not that we're talking about cracks or illegal stuff, but that we're talking about technical issues regarding the game, and those belong in the technical section?

Yes. The technical section is not being used properly because the mentality is "nobody posts there, so I won't post there". But it is exactly for this, so that people can talk about game related stuff in peace and people with problems find solutions without reading through spoilers or anything else game related.

Right but this isnt an easy thing to achieve. People have been posting technical stuff in this section forever. And if, say I have a technical problem with the game, and I post it in the technical section, chances are Im not going to get much help, for the simple reason that, like you said yourself, people don't go there. This stuff isn't important enough to have 2 seperate threads running. The people that have problems with the game are being helped by people that have found a solution to that problem and are probably already playing the game. Why would anyone with the solution read the technical help thread? Just because they want to be a helpdesk?
So imho, you're going to have a pretty hard time if you want people to follow that rule.
If you have to make it seperate, I think its smarter to reverse it, make this the technical thread and the other one (that noone visits) the gameplay thread. Cause this topic is more technical stuff than anything else.
Just my opinion though

well this is gonna take 3 hours to download.. or so it says, but as we all know, all game downloaders lie (especially steam), so whatever... glad i stayed up and waited, but now im gonna go get some sleep. hopefully its done when i wake up, and isnt paused at 2% with a "thank you for downloading far cry 3, please click OK to continue" message.

Hey JBeckman, have you played a bit with the graphic options? I think the amount of blur is excessive and maybe it can be toned down by changing the PostProcess setting or something?

Yeah while playing I was reminded of both Far Cry and Far Cry 2 but it also reminded me of the Assassin's Creed games because the map/waypoints/quests/fast travel system seems to work very similarly.
