No, I wish Sad It's one of the rare few games I honestly feel guilty about not buying, but luckily THETA put out a functional keygen yesterday (no more activation dialogue and no dodgy-key-trigger 100% engine damage grinhurt)

First wait for it to appear on Steam, you don't want another T2 fiasco. Or you don't mind non-steam key/game ?

I plan to Smile Hopefully I can start getting my shit together soon, but yeah.. I'll snag a Steam copy. It's weird... considering most of us, myself included, despise this online-DRM nonsense -- Steam never seems to bother me. I'm not entirely sure why I accept Steam's online stuff and reject other companies when they do it Scratch Head

Perhaps we do not think Steam a DRM and just platform that allows to keep our games in a nice way and communicate with friends easily, that's what I think at least

Aye, that's pretty much it. Steam is a huge service in multiple ways, UbiDRM is just that... DRM. My only complaint with Steam is the unstable nature of Offline Mode - it fails more often than it works, in my experience Sad

It's because Steam does everything all the other crap doesn't. Unlimited installs? Check. Easily set commandline parameters when necessary? Check. Decent download speeds (I know some people have problems, but even during release nights I still get 8-9 MB/s, only Origin does it better; and they have 25 games to offer)? Check. Little to no footprint on your system? Check. No annoying fucking popup at boot or at random (news after you quit a game is the only thing that ever pops up besides chat)? Check. Clean UI? Check, and if you still don't like it, get a skin.

Metacritic.com Metascore 79/100
28 NOVEMBER 2012 - SCS SOFTWARE
Finally enough reviews from respectable gaming sites and publications were gathered for Metacritic to be able to rate the game. For a niche simulation game, we are very proud to achieve 79/100, and better yet the User Score is currently standing at 8.9! (source: metacritic.com )

Steam soon ?

Didn't they say that they might be able to provide steam keys to those who bought it? Their support might be a better way than the store. Smile

If I recall correctly all I did was FORCE AFR2 via the NVIDIA control panel. More or less doubled my framerate.

Done, finally :

Quote:
Greenlit!
2 DECEMBER 2012 - SCS SOFTWARE
We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the big family of Euro Truck Simulator 2 fans! Your help was fantastic - our game is coming to Steam!

We'll be working hard to get ETS2 on Steam as fast as possible, but we have yet to take care of paperwork and handle all the technical details to make the Steam release happen, so please have patience with us.

Now giving a Steam key for already owners of the game would be nice... Dream on. Smile

EDIT : Found my answer :

Quote:

If Euro Truck 2 eventually makes it onto Steam, will it be possible for those that buy it directly from scssoft.com to get a Steam key for it?

SCS Software 22 Oct 2012 @ 1 h 20
If Steam makes this technically possible to issue such keys - provided that ETS2 emerges out of Greenlight victorious) - we'll be happy to allow our customers to use the platform that they are most comfortable with to play their games.

Smile
