i`d highly doubt that, but who knows - with dark souls how long it was between announcing the game and the release date?

Took them 2 years to develop the game, which is why I said I expect DS2 to be out Fall 2013.

http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20121207005785/en/Hopelessness-Despair-Impending-Doom-Arrives-Dark-Souls
Quote: | Built upon the foundation established by Souls series creator and Dark Souls II Supervisor, Hidetaka Miyazaki with development helmed by FromSoftware Director Tomohiro Shibuya, Dark Souls II will feature a new hero, a new storyline, and an unfamiliar world for players to survive in while delivering its signature brand of unrelenting punishment that players hunger for. Epic battles with gruesome enemies and blood-thirsty bosses await adventurers as they traverse through a devastated world filled with death and despair; only those who are strong willed or cunning can survive this journey to achieve great glory. Players seeking to share their experience will discover a revamped server-based multiplayer mode that will put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing with others.

Now all we need is...
-A MAP
-OBJECTIVE LIST
-COMPASS
-Some kind of Guiding Line (We dont want it to happen like DS1 where you would head to the Cemetary INSTEAD OF THE MOUNTAIN PASS,WICH WAS THE RIGHT WAY,RIGHT?..else IIIITS RAPING TIME by Skeletons...)
-Better performance (60FPS?)
-BETTER GRAPHICS (NO BLURRYNESS BY DEFAULT)
-PC controls THE RIGHT WAY (NOT ANOTHER 360 PORT)
....Better gameplay/Actions/etc?...

I'll have to disagree with adding a map or objective list, or compass and especially guiding line. DS shows you right in the first area (Asylum Demon) that some enemies are not meant to be fought the first time you encounter it, there is no shame in running away or running pass them. I think a map will only work if it is covered in FoW until you explore the area yourself. You only have 1 objective at any given time in DS, so I don't think you need a list for that. The devs put a lot of hints in the world to warn players ahead of time as to what to expect, burnt corpses and marks, oddly placed fireplaces, chest and mimics are different if you pay attention, etc. That fits to the theme of the mechanics of the game very well, unless they decided to change that radically, I don't think players should be given more direction.

only if it is revealed while you explore, just so you would know your way back.
edit: but then again DS wasn't that huge, i could go from anywhere in the game to the other without getting lost

I don't think anyone who have beaten DS would want to make the game easier, at least in terms of hand holder stuff (direction arrows), or a map that tells you the way back or around things. I still remember dying in Blighttown one after another and couldn't find the a single bonfire but the one close to Iaito. That was a special moment no games can produce for me, I would love to get those feelings back in DS2.

Slightly worried now when Miyazaki isnt onboard, he did everything on the game almost from what i understand.. Instead we get the people who did Resident Evil Outbreak. :/ Not a good sign.

If you're not joking about the first 4 points we sould call it Dark Fables
After you get knocked out/die nothing happens, you just get a new scar and get up They sould add this too.
Come on guys, it's Dark Souls. It doesn't need a map, quest log and other hold my hand features.
The only "more accessible" features they should add are some better game mechanic explanations/tutorials. (upgrades, sorcery, pyromancy, miracles, etc)

That just sounds like some PR talk to keep fans from worries. Supervising usually means he won't get to make decisions, but only give opinions. So the direction of the game is now up to someone else, which is worrying to me, since I just can't see DS going another route and keeping its charm.

Sadly, Scamco probably saw the potential in the Souls series and decided to "mainstream" it, so they sacked Miyazaki (that's how they do it in Japan).

They already have Dragon's Dogma though where they really went the mainstream route ala Skyrim, i think they're even working on a follow-up.. would there be much point in dumbing it down and basically making yet another TES clone?

They won't go straight to Skyrim level of mainstream, they'll do it gradually and observe the sales.

I guess. Dragons Dogma 2 is probably 2-3 years away at least too so maybe they dont feel its necessary to make it that much different either..
