Definitely LoL for me... while Dota2 is almost the same as Dota, LoL has moved the genre forward and provides more options for optimization (item build / runes / masteries... additional stats such as cooldown reduction / spell penetration / ability power etc.). For those who care, it also has a much larger playerbase than Dota2.
However, you should try both (LoL and Dota2) and decide for yourself.
Edit: btw if any1 plays on EU east, feel free to add me (Prandur).

Dota 2 is vastly superior to both. LoL with 100 dollars you can 1v10^10, LoL is like the COD of games, were even the most retarded kid can get 5 kills in a row. Dota 2 takes more strategy and yeah 1 hero can 1v5, if fed enough and the other team has downs, but I have never seen that happen except once when a friend did the old kunkka 1hit for -2400 the whole team. But if need to pick one or the other, I'd say Dota 2 for serious play, LoL to fuck around.
LoL higher player base claim.... Game is not beta invite only.
This is like saying that the goals in soccer are too big because a team scored 30 goals, and not including that the other team only had two players on the field. If a hero can 1v5 another team when it plays stupidly AND it is MASSIVELY AHEAD IN FARM AND LEVELS what is the relevance to the actual game? Its insignificant. And yes void can do it, I even wrote that
And that clip was fail upon fail. If riki had just clouded they would probably have killed that void. Instead he blinks in like a moron. And DK couldve run several times.

Their stunt with proclaiming the amount of games went away quickly when Garena and others posted their numbers of WC3 dota

What does "LoL with 100 dollars you can 1v10^10" mean? How does Dota2 take more strategy than LoL, can you elaborate on that?
Have you ever seen tournament coverage from LoL and Dota2... because I watch both regularly, and came to the opposite conclusion than you. Additionally to the usual laning/ganking, in LoL you need to maintain ward coverage (which is much more important than in Dota2 it seems), protect your jungle due to the golem/lizard buff, keep track of dragon and baron timers.

Wards are alpha omega in dota. You obviously havent watched much. I watched the finals of that million dollar LoL tournament and it was a joke, imo. The most boring games I have watched in any game.
It only seems much more important cause you can buy wards infinitely in lol and oyu cant in dota. That way they are much more valuable and you countering that ward provides a much higher strategic potential and damage to the enemy team. You also seem to ignore the fact that runes exist in dota and spawn every two minutes and are extremely important.
Got utterly owned again, ended up getting to a point where I was only lvl13 and these lvl30 guys just kept pwning me . Part of my issue is that my controls are not setup right, mouse map movement sucks balls..
Going to play some more bot based stuff and get used to a character..
Without having played, just spectated some matches, I think they're both good games but LoL is more interesting to watch. Last-hitting AND creep denial takes some skill but it's weird, too.
And the hero vs hero battles look better in LoL imo, animations seem better as well.
Let's just agree to disagree about which game is better. I don't see the point in an argument about which game is better, and besides every1 who can try both games can decide which they prefer.
But I want to point out something LoL definitely deserves credit for (even from those who dislike it) - LoL vastly increased the popularity of e-sports in general. The viewership numbers of LoL tournaments within major e-sports events propelled the viewership numbers to previously unseen heights. This is a good thing for e-sports as a whole, and by result also for PC gaming.
Yea and one of their tools was trying to force tournaments and events to only carry LoL and force out other games. That is really helpful to esports..
I dont care about which game is better that is purely subjective. There are differences in the games that can be seen and discussed however. And then there are purely wrong statements. Like when people say they dislike a game cause it doesnt put emphasis on wards, when the opposite is true? Not pointing fingers just making up an example.
I dont think Riot and Tencent perform very admirably and in favor of esports as a whole. They get huge number on tournaments though, thats definitely true.

Your comment is made of totally imagined claims.
Since when money matter in LoL? LoL is free to play and if you do not want to pay you can still play and get as far as someone else.
"In LoL the most retarded kid can get 5 kills in a row". Lol what?. The most retarded kid will be playing with retards belonging to his ELO. Skilled players will be played with other skilled players and will be matched up with opponents accordingly. Claiming that idiots can pentakill left and right in LOL is just not true. Claiming that LoL requires no skill is not true.
I play LOL since summer 2010 and played above 1500 games and i had 4 (!) pentakills total on Summmoners Rift (i do not count ARAMS, if you even know what that is).
So where do you take your statements from? Your ass?
Go watch hi-ELO game (2400-2500 and more) to actually see how skilled people play.
Go watch hi-ELO players commenting low ELO games replays and explaining the huge amount of mistakes people make and what they should have done instead.
Then maybe you will make the first step to understand the depth the game has.
all of them have different presentation
l lol is dunno, childish? or what would be correct term
dota2 themed/borderlands style
hon more of realistic and people say its darker? never noticed my self
which one looks best? well that depends what style you look, personally hon still look best to me even if dota2 have at least 2 years on hon
spectating/esports i dont watch much anymore, but i find it hardest to follow whats happening on screen in dota 2 , even lol with poor quality graphics is far easer to figure out whats going in teamfight , since i play hon mostly, i never had any trouble figuring stuff out or following
gameplay ? well lol is kinda different with all the runes and stuff
hon is faster than dota 2, pretty much 90% competitive games are 60-90 mins farming game in dota 2, in hon its centered more around 30-45 mins games, sure 15 mins happen and so does 70 + in hon too
i personally never switched to dota2 from hon because of annoying keybinds, i just didnt fell like remaking half the keys, there are standard keys for a reason use them, dont invent new mappings, this isnt 1995.. and long matchmaking times.. waiting for 5-10 mins and never getting into game ( that was when they said dota 2 is most played game on steam ) , try both and decide yourself, i think lol is different enough on its own

but in LoL you have to spent some coins or shit in order to unlock heroes + skills for yourself, thus making it pay2win imo
You have to spend IP to get champs/runes, "skills" unlock by themselfs if you level up...
You get IP from playing games (and you always have too much IP leftover anyway).
Runes can't even be bought with money... (with exception buying the digital collecters pack, you get a few runes with it ye...)
The ONLY thing you can't buy with IP are skins, nothing more, nothing less.
So if you call that pay2win then you are reallly dumb

Just to add some info, competitive (tournament) games in LoL tend to usually take about 30 minutes on average, with most games ending in the 20-40 minute mark. In rare cases, games may last up to ~1 hour. Lower-elo games tend to last a little longer on average because it's hard to do coordinated team pushes.

Another post filled with bullshit "90% of competitive games are 60-90 mins farming game"? You cant see whats going on in dota even though you played hon? Ridicilous.
To be honest the unlocking system in LoL is terrible, it takes way too much time to unlock champions.
I have played something close to 2000 games and I still don't have even half of the champions unlocked and even less of the runes.
That being said it does make the game easier to pickup and play for new players, because the champion pool is very limited at the beginning, it's not as overwhelming and you don't have to learn as many heroes right away.
At higher levels the game might seem a bit stale compared to Dota 2, In LoL the lanes are more or less predetermined to be the same every game, where as in Dota 2 you are more free to do whatever you want.
Gameplay wise it's really just a matter of taste, they aren't that compareable to be honest,a bit like compairing UT to Quake back in the day.
As a spectator sport I enojy both equally, I still enjoy watching Dota 2 tournaments even though I very rarely play it these days. LoL is probably easier to understand for the neutral spectator though, and I find the commentators to be generally more enteratining to listen to in the LoL scene.
Overall I enjoy playing LoL a bit more than Dota 2, and I probably played them both an equal amount, if you count Dota 1 games aswell.

Unlocking all champions and runes is extremely time-consuming if you don't want to spend cash on it. However, what you can do is buy all the cheap champions (450 IP is a measly 6 games I think) and/or save up for some of the more expensive ones that you really want.
Unlike in other free-to-play games (World of Tanks), the intent is to have each and every champion more-or-less balanced and equally suited for their role, so you're not necessarily nerfing yourself by buying the cheap ones first. Of course, in reality there will always be some flavor-of-the-month champions, and balancing is an ongoing process... but the intent at least is to have them all balanced for their respective roles.

A discussion that rarely ends well, I see a lot of weird shit here, from both sides.
What I will say though, it doesn't matter if you spend money or not, you cannot buy power at all in any games. So just drop those silly arguments eh?
The unlocking system in lol is genius imo, not a single dollar, is needed. I do wish they would reduce the prices of heroes more often, seeing as pretty old heroes still costs top dollar is not something I'd like to see.
I just don't see how I could complain, the game gives me everything for free, everything I need to play and not being gimped for free.

I like all 3 games
Every hero, every game performance related item is free from launch in dota 2. Always will be.
