Hitman was not a disappointment or a fail. It was the biggest mistake ever made by developers.
Reboots are just dumbed down to the point were they hold your hand and not even let you explore or learn anything on your own; prime example Farcry 3

Might not be the place to extend the post with explanations, but a Max Payne without a dark New York and a film noir setting is nothing. So yea, for me, that hollywood action flick called Max Payne 3 was a let down.
