Action parts in Taken 2 are just ridiculous , stupid..there is no need for part 2 of the first movie , it's forced. Some scenes are just bad , characters are stupid...throwing bombs in the middle of the Istanbul and nobody gives a fuck , embassy scene yeah right...his daughter drives like a pro rally driver..yeah right..escape scene and his wife ? Alternate ending , wtf..bizzare choice.. It doesn't work for me even tho I like over the top action flicks..it's dull , no effort at all..movie presents itself like a " realistic " action movie with serious note..it's not Crank type of movie , those scenes wouldn't work even there.. Laughing scenes in Crank are ingenius comparing to this..

Taken 1 was entertaining , with nicely constructed action scenes , stronger motives , decent characters..I rated it 7.0 / 10.

EDIT:

omg , really ?

Cloud Atlas - 10/10

A mesmerising, spellbinding masterpiece. Destined to become a cult classic and rightly so. No film has made me laugh, cry, excited or enthralled me like this in years. It is a miracle of storytelling and editing, and left me stunned at how well they adapted the unfilmable book.

My favourite film of the year.

Actually never heard anyone not liking the first Taken (well if they like the genre that is).
Also liked how every person not american in this movie is evil or corrupt. Or how about at the border, they only checked the badguys passport and the rest of the 3 cars just moved along (they didnt hint of bribing or that the borderpatrol knew who the guy was)

And yep I

Also liked how Liam knew that she should only take 2 grenades Smile

But worst scene this week is in Judge Dredd - half way into the movie there is a shooting where some guy charges into a corridor (in the middle of a firefight) by the speed he was running, he was going to run directly into the wall with his guns in the air Smile But before he could suicide himself by wall, Judge Dredd shot him ofcourse Smile
All 3 of us laughed and we had to stop and rewind twice - rest of the movie was a comedy after that.

looper 7/10

I think they interpreted a very strange time concept. People shouldn't be tied up to their past life. This just causes chaos. And why did he kill his old alter ego? Anyone else could have done this. There are a lot of plot holes in this film. The effects are good but I don't think that they put much effort into the time traveling aspect.

Jep there even was a scene where Bruce Willis just says something along the lines of "lets not speak of timetravelling, so how about them NY Giants" Laughing

Sunshine 9/10

I like cillian murphy and this is why I also watched

28 days later 8,5/10

It's better than 28 weeks later even though it had a much small budget.

Cloud Atlas - 3/10 - A very impressive feat of film, from a technical perspective, the cinematography and art direction are phenomenal and the several nuances and roles portrayed by the actors are both to be acknowledged and veneered. Unfortunately, in a movie of this caliber, the technical aspects of it and the acting are irrelevant, not even the best performances ever achieved could save this movie from its Achilles heel, its plot, this film is nothing but a highly expensive reincarnation flick, filled with new age pseudo scientific, anti intellectual nonsense.

I really attempted to enjoy this movie, and the only reason why I was able to endure through the entirety of it was primarily due to the superb performances from Tom Hanks, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving and Halle Berry. Weren't for their collective superb performances and some interesting scenes here and there, I wouldn't be able to tolerate this movie for more than fifteen minutes.

I dont think you do.

You watched 30 minutes. You can't be agreeing with him that the themes and messages are anti-intellectual nonsense without being exposed to them in the first place (err.. reincarnation.. something..? Isn't that what the movie is about? I don't have to watch it.).

Furthermore the dude enjoyed all technical aspects of it and the acting describing them as impressive, phenomenal and superb; while you called them terrible, ugly and shitty.

So nope, I don't think you agree with him.

What I praised was the acting and the cinematography. fisk's main critique was with regards to the disjointed non linear time jumps and the plastic feel of the make up.

To be absolutely specific, you are generalizing, I do not see any mutual relation between the points fisk addressed and my own.

There are fantastical concepts in a fantasy fiction. Shocking and completely unexpected. Spirits creating a world from music - much more intellectual, grounded in reality and scientifically sound.

If this is your attempt to compare the Silmarillion with the pseudo scientific garbage that Cloud Atlas is, I fail to see your point?!

It is easier, and in many senses, more realistic, to setup a new world, with its own set of rules, and be consistent with the premises in which that parallel reality take place, than to use our world, our reality, distort it and label it as 'science fiction'...

I am not comparing anything. My point is that any element of fantasy and science fiction taken at face value is most likely ridiculous. If, however, these elements work within the universe set up by the fiction, then these are unimportant. I guess, by your last sentence, that The Matrix is also not to your liking, because it presents a ludicrous view that is grounded in pseudo science set in our world, our reality. Get over yourself.

What about Battlstar Galactica, which, according to you, shoehorned "our world, our reality" in the story as well. I guess it is a pseudo scientific garbage as well.

also don't mention some of his other favorite movies v for vendetta and watchmen. lolz.

if a movie has anarchy / anti-government plot / other things ronron preaches about then it's a perfect 10! (only reason tdkr got a lower score is because of the ending Laughing. But when it's a movie that lulz at his ideas and provides a different perspective than his empirical truths of the world then it's pseudo intellectual
