They always catch on to us, no matter if its multiplayer weapons for Mass Effect 3 or cvars or whatever, it always seems to be a priority for developers to inhibit player customization whenever possible.

Dear jeebus that's a really bad decision. And I was actually waiting for them to improve the situation..

Nice way to shoot themselves in the feet (while showing the finger to the gamers -once again- ) Laughing *facepalm*

Finished this (Expert difficulty, no trainers). Even though the game has many problems and it definitely isn't a proper Hitman game, I still enjoyed it a lot.

For me the game was technically flawless, ran and looked like a dream. No performance problems at all after I decided to tune the AA down to 4x (from 8x) as it was eating more vram than I had.

Gameplay was more Hitman 2 than Blood Money, which for me wouldn't be a bad thing (as H2 is my favourite in the franchise) except it was wrongly executed. As mentioned, there's a lot of gameplay related problems, the most notable being:

- Level design: too many linear levels where you needed to reach a door (you were right about that after all Tom Francis). Especially in the first half of the game with all the police evading. Some awful ones as well in the "Dexter Industries" chapters. It got much better towards the middle of the game with the Hope levels, which were in my opinion the best in the game and very open and full of options. That includes the streets, the barbershop and also the courthouse. The very last assassination levels were also great, mostly.

- Disguise system: even though I managed to use the disguising very effectively after the last patch, I have to admit that it's a bad system, and I can imagine how it gets worse for those who play on "Purist". IO better listen to the complaints and fix that for the next game.

AI wasn't anything special, as it wasn't in any of the previous games either. At least it wasn't as exploitable as in the previous titles in the franchise.

The scoring system felt also a bit forced, though at least my beloved Silent Assassin rating seemed to be working (got it in the last 4 assassination missions, no detections and no non-target kills).

I liked the story (especially the ending), loved the voice acting. David Bateson was excellent as usual and Keith Carradine was simply amazing. The rest of voice actors were pretty good, generally, a great cast.

Summarizing, an awkward execution of a Hitman game, that still managed to be very enjoyable (for me). I rate it accordingly:

82/100.

works fine on purist. i'm up to the fight night level now. you have enough instict for one big 2/3 guard patrol avoiding or 2-3 single guards. depending on positioning. the rest of the time you have to be aware of your own and your targets position. i'm enjoying the game a lot as well, despite those constant reach the next door sub levels. some are laughaby short and linear, but they make sense considering the location. i mean there's only so many ways you can bypass a security door in a military complex.

The missions variety and detailing from blood money is not accomplished here, but its still a fine video game.

yeah you can't see how much but its not like its tough to count in your head after a few times.

you really do feel like a creepy weirdo assasin on purist.that shifty look hitman has in this game. so creepy lol. stalking every character until you know their route. it's such a sick game but so satisfactory Twisted Evil

im just used to playing HUD less games since many good games have the option these days.

Alan wake without a HUD was also So Much Win

so was metro 2033.

At this point, I've almost lost my hope..never say never though.

The only thing that I need is the old working cvars back so that I can use the disguises trainer again. Razz

Was enjoying the game with very rare crashes but now I'm at a level where u have to kill 3 gang members outside and I crash at random points in this level. Downloaded the patch maybe it'll help.

completed it finally. after the foggy part it gets easy and then its over. On purist and no trainer used. thats how awesome I am Cool Face

Overall im pretty satisfied. few crappy things were:

chopper attack at the beginning

killing nuns which are supposedly covert asassins that covertly destroyed half a hotel, murdered dozens of people and walk around in latex porn outfits. Laughing

not enough assasinations/too much from a to be sequences.

other than that, the game was good old hitman. lots of interesting and detailed locations, and classic hitman kill approaches. would love to have the legit version to try out contracts mode Sad

anyways, posting tons of screenies in the screen thread for those that wanna see more of this game.

you spent 25 hours on a game you thought was dumbed down and gonne to waste?

that's some dedication Cool Face

what can I tell you, i've completed all hitman games, many of them mutliple times and quite recently, and none of that changes the fact that i've enjoyed this game.

It was chalenging on purist and the scenes i found overly derp were few and far between.

Talking about dumbed down in a game where you have the option to play without any help or hud or saving what so ever is a first world problem.

Or complaining about wall hugging when hitman 1 had cover before cover shooters even existed.

Who is forcing you to play it as a sneak em up shooter? i've played the game exaclty as any other hitman game. i snuck around, took disguises, and silently killed targets. fired maybe 4 bullets the entire game.

the main difference is that the game story and progress were different. you aren't an assasin taking contracts and going fully prepared into missions. you are on the run very often. hitman is out of his element,
hence no choices in some maps and having to evade and not kill. there was a ton of missions like that in the old hitmans. swat team chases in hitman 1. running from the soviets in hitman 2, etc.

Its not the best hitman game, but its not that bad that you need to hate it with passion

Very Happy

I can't even finish this because I don't think it's any fun at all. I mean, I got to the hope level and then I just dind't play anymore. It was just follow this path to there and do this when you get there, so god damn boring.

I loved blood money, where they basically gave you an area, some targets and do as you wish. If you want to be all derpy and gun everyone down, do so, if you want to be a sneaky fuck who just kills his targets, that's your prerogative.

This however, was a third person corridor "sneaky" game with levels one third of the size you'd want them to be.
No, IO interactive can go fuck themselves. After K&L I should have known that they're just a bunch of nitwit sellouts. Holy shit what a clusterfuck those two games were btw (Kane & Lynch).

Dumbed down does not mean it's just easier/harder. BF3 is a dumbed down version of BF2, I can still hook up a 360 controller to it making it harder, it's still dumbed down due to lack of features.

This, a thousand times.

About Absolution, for me the problem wasn't the size of the levels at all. The problem, which you mentioned asl well, was the linearity and repetitiveness of many of the objectives. I have to say however, that if you stopped right when you got to Hope, you're missing the absolutely best levels in the game (or maybe you played them and stopped right there knowing that from that point the game would never get as good Very Happy ).

I tried several time to get back into the game to finish it (just because I paid for the mofo) but every time I tried something came up (like picking my nose for 15 minutes instead of playing it). o.O

Sort of a hijack, but its the same genre, and its a heads up for people who love older hitman gameplay. I just finished death to spies 1, took me almost 40 hours for the 10 levels the game is made up of.

and i gotta say, it shits over this game, and then some. i would actually put death to spies up there with the best hitman has to offer in any of its games.

So anyone looking for a serious alternative in the genre, i wholeheartedly recommend death to spies.

im so addicted im instantly downloading the sequel to start playing right away.

its pretty much hitman for grownups, cause its seems absolution just used the hitman name for a different game Smile
