I think I'm close to finishing Tomb Raider: Legend atm (my first time playing a TR game). I'm gonna take a guess and say this mustn't be anywhere near the best the series can offer? So far the game is a little above average but nothing special. A few nice puzzles but most of them feel stupid and awkward, even the Darksiders games have better puzzles. I won't mention story as I assume story is expected to be this silly in the series, and not at all why they became famous.

Still, I feel it's much better than the crap we've been shown in those promo videos for the new Tomb Raider Very Happy

I feel more or less the same about Binary Domain, the other game I'm playing right now (must be halfway or something, Tokyo highway level). It has its moments but very frequently it shows its very important flaws, the story doesnt seem bad at all though.

The Tomb Raider games are a strange beast, Legend was a bit rushed imo, Underworld on the other hand felt definitely more complete (with better puzzles, more exploration etc.).
I would suggest you to play the classic TR1/2/3/4 too (my favorite ones) but I'm not sure that you would find them entertaining, since the controls are rough and edgy if compared to today's standards. If you can tolerate that (and the dated visuals of course) I'd say they're worth to be played as well Razz

I don't think you can appreciate the TR games as well if you haven't sort of... grew up with them. I noticed this on quite a lot of people. Now, I didn't even finish the older ones, but I used to know them like the back of my hand simply because I used to watch my uncle play them. I was mostly messing around in them at that time. I simply found them really fun to play, I never really cared about anything else in them and the gameplay was and still is top-notch. Legend is the worst from Crystal Dynamics in my opinion. Anniversary is the best and one of the very few games that showed that proper remakes are possible and can actually be better than the original. From the old one I don't really have any favorite. I do love the additions 5 brought to the series though (mostly the climbing around corners! that was so amazing back then!). I actually tried Angel of Darkness on this PC, so it was a more recent experience and I honestly don't think it's that bad either. It's just really really different. They tried bring something new to the series and it just didn't work. That's what Crystal Dynamics are doing with this one too and it will end the same. What they did before was the right thing to do: improve on the classic formula, don't change it.

Legend had too much shitty action sequences, Anniversary and Underworld were better in that regard.

That's really great news then! I just finished Legend like 5 minutes ago and the only thing I may add is that the boss fights weren't too bad, and that the soundtrack is pretty good. Still the gameplay was very flawed imo, and mostly bad puzzle design which in this kind of games is very important to me. Looking forward to Anniversary next!

I started playing Modern Warfare 3 (SP, can't stand MP) on my laptop, I don't mind it, it's actually really easy to play games made for controllers with a trackpad

Other than that, I am utterly fucking bored, I don't have a single thing I feel like playing... I want Omerta to come out

Currently playing Temporary Administration Assistant. Repetitive, exhausting, but has some nice logic puzzles.

Plus, gives real-world cash. None of those space-bucks for me, nosiree.

And answering seriously:

Trying to get into something new to play. Last couple of weeks been playing BF3, but I go through phases with that. Dark Souls does my head in due to the stupid UI (why couldn't they just include a change of controller scheme? Sad ). Probably start on Natural Selection 2 later today, see how that goes.

I've made the terrible mistake of disregarding the backlog and reinstalled BG2 and Kotor Razz. One of these days I should finish Absolution though (as well as Borderlands 2, which I'm finding repetitive to death). Then there's also the wip AC3 playthrough.. but that will have to wait.
