So... I am not sure what drivers I need and what is useless trash. I mean, everything is working correctly but I would like to be up to date with everything and not sure where to find new drivers for some stuff. with my prev computers it was always nforce so I had to download one thing from nvidia site for mobo. intel is kinda fucked up.

Asrock p67 pro3 mobo here. Newewst bios.
Let me get here through what I have installed and what not:

This is my mobo drivers page.

First of all. Fuck all of these "utilities" right ? none installed.
Also. DISABLED all the stupid intel smart connect, rapid start, useless features in uefi. Enabled ahci for hdd before installing windows. changed windows7 page file from 8gb to 1gb. deleted hibernation file.

Now for the drivers. One by another. Please someone read this and correct me if I am wrong etc.

*GPU - well that one is obvious. 12.11 new beta with cap2.
*audio- realtek 2.70 from realtek site.
*Inf driver - I know this one is essential. But don't know where to find new one. Installed from asrock site.
*Intel management engine - don't have any idea what it is. sounds important. Installed from asrock website. new version hard to find (intel site sucks big time)
*intel rapid start - fuck it. not installed
*intel smart connect - the same
*lan - installed from asrock website
*app charger - wtf... iphone charger driver? fuck that. not installed.
*sata raid driver - not installed. I am using ahci
*Intel rapid storage driver - now that is important I think. Installed driver from asrock website. There is plenty of new versions on intel website but not sure which is the right one.
*etron usb3.0 - installed from asrock website

according to device manager everything seems to be installed and working. Should I update some drivers? Install something I am missing or not install ?
edit: also. 28k score in default 3dmark 2006.

INF driver - google "intel inf update", download the latest version (ZIP package). Unzip and run setup with 'SETUP -OVERALL' (which will overwrite and update all previous chipset controller drivers, just to be sure).
Management Engine - only if you are installing intel tools for monitoring and overclocking from Windows. Not really necessary.
SATA raid driver is only if you are using chipset's fakeraid capability. You can create pure chipset-independant software raid straight from Windows Disk Management, if you need to at some point.
Not sure about rapid storage drivers, but I read somewhere that's necessary only if using SSDs on these chipsets.

There's nothing wrong with Intel's site. You can easily find the newest INF (which is the main driver for your chipset - also known as "Intel Chipset Device Software") and IME (Intel Management Engine) drivers there.

You only go to their download center (main site -> menu -> support -> downloads and drivers -> browser for drivers), then you type "Intel Chipset Device Software" or "Intel Management Engine" into the search box, then you choose your OS and you'll easily find the last ones by their versions and dates published.

USB3.0: Use Etron's main site. USB3 Host Controllers -> your correct model of the USB3.0 chip.

Do I need to search by my chipset or is there only one main inf driver for all ?

Intel unifies their drivers for the last 3-4 generations of their chipsets. Since you have a board with a 6th generation chipset, you don't have to worry for any problems or incompatibilities.

And always scan these drivers with antivirus programs because many of them contain malware even when downloaded from the official sites.

Been installing drivers from their respective official sites for the last 10 years or so and have come up with no problems regarding malware. Laughing

Haha. I always go the other way around. Smile

The SATA RAID Driver for floppy actually contains AHCI Driver as well, so it's very much useful when running disks in ahci mode.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology is basically that AHCI/SATA driver plus some software on top of that. It probably might get useful if you were to run RAID setup, but other than that I don't think so... Unfortunately, it also makes Windows boot a few seconds longer than usually and can cause conflicts with AV software.

Therefore, what I always do, is to avoid Intel RST like a plague (Very Happy) and only install ahci driver manually from within Device Manager. Especially when the "internal drives appearing as Hot-Plug" bug doesn't exist anymore on my new mobo.

This came out with newest version/date

There is plenty of different download with the same version and even different size

hye killercrocker, i was in the same boat and intel is to blame.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Chipset+Software+Installation+Utility&ProdId=816&LineId=1090&FamilyId=42

when you check top download you will see its valid for 6x series ( even when the final page doesnt list it ), i also got a P67 download and received no errors when installing it, and windows updated doesnt offer any newer versions.

Sorry to hijack this thread Smile
Etron USB 3.0 driver seems to be way better than the one from intel. Are there even better options for an Asrock z77 board? Only finding "ancient" stuff about USB 3.0 drivers via goggle :/

Ok, Finally reinstalled windows. Installed wifi dongle, realtek, 360gamepad and gpu drivers right away
There were 4 more devices left in device manager to be installed and I ran an update. Windows only installed one of them - Intel management engine.

so there are 3 left. Installed usb3 drivers and lan driers and sm bus device was left to be installed. That turned out to be inf chipset driver.

Got the newest one from above posts (thanks) and installed it aswell.

Now we are left for rapid storage driver. It don't seem like it needs installing, so I ran hdtune pro and checked my hdd speed, then installed rapid storage driver (from asrock site -whatever) and it indeed helps with the speed, so I is needed too.

I hate drivers. If I knew all that I would get some new asus z77 mobo. driver section is much better updated there and there is no need to go around and search intel website for some stupid management engine or rapid storage drivers which there are like 5 types of
