Not me, that city is way too small. I hope the rest is bigger because that is just sad.

I do like the amount of detail but in order to achieve that it seems they had to scale down the size of the city which is a shame.

That was just the tutorial city, which could have been built in a small map . . .
Wait to see . . .

While this is indeed the tutorial city which is supposed to be small, they did scale the maximum city size down:
Quote: | We are still experimenting with the size of the cities, but our maps are comparable to a medium-sized map in SimCity 4. |
ASRock B450 Pro4 || Ryzen 7 3700X || Patriot Viper 16Gb DDR4-3600 || ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF GAMING || XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 1Tb || Xiaomi Mi Surface Display 34" (3440x1440)

In that case this game is absolutely a nogo for me anymore, I at least expected cities twice as big, come on.

I agree. And developers wonder why people pirate games. They just make games so fucking unpleasent to play.
I always like to play really really huge maps but cutting maps almost in half, that is no fun at all. For Civ 5 I only play largest maps, small are just not fun shrug

They seem to have put much more detail, graphical and management, in the city, so that's probably why they had to limit the map sizes.

It seems they are doing a beta just for the sake of doing a beta so they can say later "yeah we did a beta and got customer feedback so we can make the game better" and with that all the herps and derps will go oh yeah EA is loyal to customers.

They do a 1 hour beta cause people will be bored the second hour.
The tutorial video is not promising, casual gameplay, small map, mediocre graphics.
I would pay 15$ cause it is simcity, but full price never.
edit:
DIGITAL DELUXE edition:
€ 79,99
And 50 euro's discount on future purchases.. so 80 euro's doesn't deliver all content.
I'll skip this one.

umm so wait, today quad-core cpu and recent video cards can't handle it ?
I mean civ5 plays on largest map, highest possible amount of cpu playrs & cities just fine on my system...so not sure what is the deal here.
and i can tell you that game lagged hardcore with such a settings on core 2 duo I had few months ago..even fifa manager 12, with more then 12 leages+reserve team were loading forever on core2duo..
either crappy coding for multi-procesors or just excuse for being lazy

That's a very old article, the game requires online DRM as saves are online and the game continues after you logout afaik.

I know it's old, but i thought drm would be tougher like diablo 3.

It's basically the same, that article is old and not valid anymore.

My thought exactly. They're doing basically everything to scare customers away, from the evil business model to the choices in terms of draconian drm. And it's a shame since the game itself looks pretty decent in my opinion

To me it doesn't even look promising, especially the very Societies-esque feel of the whole presentation (things look more like Sims3 towns rather than something out of a city management game). I don't really care about the DRM, I got used to it in Anno, I could get used to it here.
This whole 1 hour beta is exactly what they did with SWTOR. There, we had a single weekend to test out the game. That amount of time was about enough to comfortably test out the tutorial planet, the faction homeplanet and maybe a bit of the first story planet. That time was not enough to get further into the game and see just how absolutely off the rails they went with the side-content:story-content ratio just a planet or more in and how monotone and grindy the whole thing became.
Seems they don't want to show the advanced stuff that's supposedly in the game with really big cities. I was very unimpressed with the frivolous stuff like "oooh, trucks move to plots to build houses", that nobody cares about. When they started talking about specialized cities, it was smelling more and more like Societies with a fresh coat of paint. And now that they don't want to show advanced gameplay to the wider audience, then yeah, I'm not gonna get suckered into another EA marketing hype. They did it with Spore, they did it with TOR, I see the same symptoms here. When people here start heralding it as the new messiah of the city building genre, then I'll buy it most likely, but so far I'm unimpressed the way they do things and with what they showed.
