Who is going to own Warhammer rights now?

Would be great if Creative Assembly could get their hands on that piece of the pie (through SEGA ofc).

Moreover, I wonder if Homeworld would be resurrected now.

Fuck yea, one of my favorite ip's are saved So Much Win

hopefully distance themselves from the low numbered skirmishes and make some proper Massive warzones with billions of screaming guardsmen dying as the warp claims their souls Very Happy

Actually the Warhammer 40k mythos is more focused on those skirmishes, rather than on large scale battles.

Seems fitting for the THQ fate! Very Happy

I prefer the massive conflicts and battles, as in some of the Horus Heresy series. Millions of spehhs marines slugging it out with Primarch's all over the place, pulp bliss

...speaking of Warhammer - I'd love to see a Warhammer Fantasy game using the excellent "WeGo" system Battlefront got in the Combat Mission 1-3 games.

As of now - it's only Warhammer, no 40k. And it happened almost two months ago, so probably had nothing to do with THQ situation.

Sega will have to negotiate a new deal for the Warhammer 40k licensing. Doubt that there will be any problems, though.

^I'm just speculating, but since they acquired Relic, and Relic has some Warhammer40k games, Sega might now have their hands on a license to the Warhammer rights Smile

Nope. The license was limited to THQ. So Sega has to negotiate a new deal.

Ofc they will. I think that's also one of the reasons why they bought Relic.

Are you sure? I think that Relic themselves had the license or did you see any other W40K games published by THQ that weren't made by Relic. Except for the canned MMO I guess. Mmh.. could actually mean that you're right. Scratch Head

Exactly. THQ renewed their license in 2011. You can find the articles online.

Horus Heresy is set in 31M not 41M. You can prefer or hope all you want, but this is Warhammer 40,000. The Warhammer 40,000 Epic is a different IP and requires a different license.

And Facepalm people still not recognizing the difference between Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 universes.

There are at least 4 settings for the 41M: Warhammer 40k, Epic, Space Hulk and Space Crusade. Can't remember others right now, though.

THQ had the licensing only for the War 40k.At least that's how i recall. But i wouldn't say no to a game set in any of the other settings (and Space Hulk definitely would make a nice game).

Gothic, Necromunda, Gorkamorka, Inquisitor.

I wouldn't mind some space combat strategy (Gothic) or RPG/ARPG in Necromunda.

Such is the fate of the fallen. Teared apart...

@ VonMisk, from those mentioned I 've played only Necromunda, to be honest. I remember now the others, but i reckon that i never played a game in those settings.

So it looks like Take Two got the WWE license. I used to love the 2K sports games and hope they stay with the Yukes style gameplay versus the TNA Impact gameplay.

Looks like Vigil is history. Darksiders and the new Vigil project failed to raise interest.

Also, Koch bought only Volition as a studio and Metro and Saints Row as IP's.

So, Red Faction joins Homeworld and Juiced and many other IP's. The back catalogue will be sold.

So, yeah. Despite the fact that someone could have saved the company, the US Court decided to forget about it, leave a lot of people without jobs and dismantle a fairly decent company (really, THQ blunders were few and far between, with the most norable being the infamous Titan Quest leak and the way they've handled everything).

Wish that the US courts would do the same to the state bailed corporations like AIG, corporations that now are suing the very people that saved them from bankrupcy: the americans (oh well, the american state, but hey...).

Also, Game Workshop showed interest in a new deal with Sega, Ubi needs to negotiate with South Park Studios, whomever will take the WWE license needs to renegotiate the contract. Exactly what i've expected with the respective IP's....

Sony Santa Monica and Remedy Entertainment have both tweeted they want to hire Vigil guys. And that's all I expect to come out of all those tweets. A couple of people will go here, another there, I don't expect the whole staff to be hired by the same company.

Do not suport this crowdfunding. They are a bunch of non gaming software developers and mobile nerds. They have no rights to the homeworld franchise and no experience in making games.

Blackbird Interactive have most of the original Homeworld team working for them. The cofunder of relic and art designer for homeworld Rob Cunningham created BBI.

Also Koch Media did not buy the Metro IP from THQ. Since the IP belongs to 4A Games and Koch media only bought the Publishing rights.
