JB's screens have indeed a strange look, almost like a slightly better Dark Souls with the low-res render and blurry visuals (+ jaggies). I guess it's yet another masked 1:1 console port

Oh god, the controls! They are terrible!
Shiiiiiiiiiit, SGAS is better and that's an iPad game.

The controls felt very responsive here although I'm using the simplified optimized control setting and not the classic one which apparently allows for better input such as being able to roll.
I'm also using a mouse and keyboard (Well only the keyboard actually.) although I guess the only reason I'm doing well is that the difficulty is on normal and how the game is more arcade than simulation compared to someone using a more appropriate setup such as a joystick (Flightstick?) or I guess even a gamepad.
But yes there's very few options and though I can't say for sure the talk about upscaling seems valid due to the blur and aliasing on the screenshots I took though otherwise it's pretty detailed for this type of game.
(I barely noticed it while actually playing the game, I'm as bad with detecting such stuff as I am actually playing these types of games it seems, ha!)
I'll have to check Widescreen forums or maybe the official Steam ones perhaps.
(Once they stop discussing LIVE and the anime - IdolMaster - oriented airplane skins, heh.)
(What's wrong with the vintage babe decals and such, those would be more fitting than bright colors and a anime girl's head on the side of the craft, there are some other alternatives though such as the shark like teeth setup and different camo inspired ones.)
Come to think of it I wonder what the next simulation oriented military flight game will be.
(I forgot again.)

Game is not upscaled. But graphics are horrible, HAWX1 looks so much better. Gameplay it is the same, boring pew pew pew crap. Plane has 300 missiles.

It's a shame that we don't have some kind of hybrid with both lots of action and semi-plausible physics, judging from the few videos that I've watched even Battlefield 3's planes are more realistic.

Well against a game taking advantage of PC hardware and other capabilities these console focused games don't offer much competition, heh.
(Visuals of course but also controls since there's a few more buttons available for use, mod support is possible too.)
Was comparing some different games in this genre via Ag.ru's screenshot archive and though there are improvements over the years most of the games still look fairly similar now to how they did some years back in earlier installments, likely due to just the console hardware.
(I could be wrong.)

i didnt like the controls at all. HAWX & Battlefield's aircraft controls much much more flexible & its not making you dizzy.
only thing i loved about game
Aircraft/gun sounds
other than that its pretty average.

If you feel the controls stiff, go into settings and set the control scheme to classic. It at least lets you more loose control of the aircraft. Of course, turn all the silly aids. Such moronic physics and derps are still given assists.
