Hum, I've never heard of those games before, SF2 looks interesting.

Can I play it properly with a xbox controller?

I doubt it Smile

Those are hardcore flight sims where even getting of the runway has a learning curve.

To fully enjoy these titles you'll need a HOTAS setup.

I applaude your fine tastes sir Whirling cane Razz Used to play them (and simulators in general) a lot in the past, but sadly lately with the lack of free time, I had to leave em behind. The problem is, games like this one are way too arcade for my tastes, and something "in the middle" basically doesn't exist when it comes to the modern setting.

Strike Fighters 2 would appeal to the "lite" crowd if the others are intimidating. Its a full simulator but with some basic features.Doesn't require the learning curve of DCS of Falcon.Certainly a lot better then Ace Combat and Hawx.

Played SF2 and it works well with a controller, I even found a pre-configured .ini for it on the net Laughing
I like it so far, of course it would be better with a proper set-up but this will do Razz

Just finished one of the first missions. Do later missions always follow the model - kill opponents -> new ones spawn immediately after that -> kill opponents -> new ones spawn immediately after that -> kill opponents -> new ones spawn immediately after that -> kill opponents -> new ones spawn immediately after that -> kill opponents -> new ones spawn immediately after that ...... ? Laughing

And is there any point in having any allies with me in the skies? There was a time where I had 10 friendly aircraft and a single enemy, and everybody was waiting for me to bring it down. Laughing

Yes (same model) and no (allies are useless unless they are scripted). Occasionally you will attack ground targets following the same pattern.

If you own or still own a PSP and a PS2 try the older games. The allied AI it's a bit beter (they actually belt some kills), you have limited ammo, stall engine at certain maneuvers and in some of the games you can even blackout.

The Ace Combat from derpbox started the trend you see in Assault Horizon. And trust me when i say that no fan of the old series was happy. I've never played Ace Combat 6 and just tried Assault Horizon. Those two are a far cry from the old games in the series. Since Ace Combat 3 up to Belkan Wars, the series were excellent (the first two were arcadish, but you still had limited ammo).

Does any of you have GFWL interface in this game? I thought that it uses it but apparently FLT disabled it somehow. Am i right? This is GFWL game? If yes, any ideas how to enable it?

The Ali213 release has GfWL intact. The release doesn't need a crack, but only an offline profile.

I gather it's an optimized version of the game properly distributing and saving power on your PC. Laughing

No idea, honestly...

Just unpack and play, or that's my understanding of those releases.

So I've tried the game expecting to find a decent arcade, but so far it's definitely not impressive. The missions don't have anything special in them (monotony is the key), the cutscenes are quite cheesy and graphically speaking it is far from being great. Some of the gameplay mechanics like the Dogfight mode aren't fun either, but maybe it's just not my kind of game.

Case solved. LIVE disabling in FLT release is in their EXE. EXE from ALi213 works perfect and i have LIVE enabled without reinstaling anything Laughing.

Looks like some 2.0 title update is under testing, perhaps they've removed LIVE?
