Soundgarden
Nirvana
Stone Temple Pilots - highly recommend them
Pearl Jam
Refused
Jerry Cantrell (2nd Alice in Chains singer, but solo)

Impressive list, however you're missing the latest Garbage and NIN albums (or maybe not...the Garbage cd wasn't as nearly as good as their first two). You should give "Breaking Benjamin" a listen if you haven't already. Both of their albums are good. Trapt (their first cd, anyway)? BTW, where are the classics? No Duran Duran? NO U2???? Verve? (not Verve Pipe)

I have to admit, I got taken by a friend, we where on the guest list to his first solo tour.. and I didnt have a clue who he was..
Since then I have been a die hard Alice fan.. better late than never |
U saw Alice in Chains on their first tour and were on the guest list?!!!!!!! FUCKIN SICK!
Or did u mean the Jerry show?
Alice in chains is THE best band i think, STP comes in second, then Pearl Jam

If I'd of seen Alice live I would wear a T-Shirt saying it, and never take it off ! I am however a little young to have seen Alice's first tour ! |
I wasnt young (well, kinda still) but they never came to toronto as far as I am aware
Lane Stanley is GOD!!
But seriously, he is....the man's vocal talent is just fuckin amazing and the songs he did write (he wrote Junkhead, Killer is Me and Dirt I think), are simply moving and heart breaking. I fuckin cried when he died in '99 man...if it wasnt for his music, I dont think I would have made it through my teenage years and more recently, through the break up of my wife and I.
Same goes for STP, but not as much.

Totally agree, I feel most of alice's stuff was amazing though..
Nutshell = best song ever made.. ever.. period.. |
Haha, I see a debate coming....Nutshell is a fantastic song but not their best. I'd say their best song, which describes what Lane was about, is Junkhead.
Now if ur talking Nutshell as a personal favourite, then its all good.
I personally like EVERY song by Alice, seriously, every song I like.
But my favourites are
Down in a hole
Got Me Wrong
Angry Chair
Over Now
No Excuses
Killer is Me (unplugged version tho)
Would (unplugged version)
Bleed The Freak
Junkhead
Sludge Factory
Am I Inside (man, that song makes me...well, nm)
Dirt
Frogs
Heaven Beside You
Brother
Nutshell
Love Song
Godsmack
We Die Young
Rooster
Hate To Feel
Rain When I Die
Head Creeps
lol to those who may think this is every song they have made, it isnt just my favourites. Thats one of my playlists, the other one has all the songs on it
Do u have Alice in Chains Unplugged Dvd? U know, the old Unplugged stuff from MTV...dude, get it, like tomorrow or right now, go and buy it. One of the last performances I think by Lane Stanely and man, it'll bring tears to ur eyes the way the man sings and how much emotion and conviction he puts into his singing...simply breath taking - ive prolly watched the DVD atleast 200 times now and it still kinda makes me get choked up (some songs) when i watch it....actually, I think im gunna throw it on now....
Glad to see there is another diehard Alice fan out there...I only have one friend who likes them as much as I do. And not to many ppl know who they are which is a shame cuz I think they were and still would be one of the purest bands in rock....they simply said, FUCK CORPORATE AMERICA!
So did Curt Cobain, but in the end, he kinda did sell out. But Lane, never ever sold out to make records...the man talked about his life and his demons and if u could understand where he was coming from, then u prolly would end up being a fan if not, go fuck urself basically....I just cant say enough about Alice, THE BEST BAND IN ROCK/GRUNGE HISTORY PERIOD!!
P.S I also suggest the Stone temple pilots greatest hit (i think thats it) dvd/cd. It comes with a cd (which doesnt have ALL their best songs on it) but the DVD is fuckin amazing...Scott Wailin is right up there beside Lane Stanely when it comes to vocals, lyrics, emotion and conviction....simply put, he's the definition of musicial artist.
I recall u said u didnt know much about STP so I'll list some songs that i think ud like
Naked Sunday
Piece of Pie
Plush (their biggest song - u prolly know it)
Meatplow
Sour Girl
Sin
Where The River Goes (This is by far the best song they have and simply moving - if u can relate and get what he's saying - almost as powerful as Indifference by Pearl Jam)
Wicked Garden
Crackerman
Dead and Bloated
Sex Type Thing
Interstate Love Song
I Got You (amazing song where he talks about his woman saving him from his heroin addiction - I can relate, not to heroin but to another drug i was addicted to and if it wasnt for a certain girl, I'd prolly be dead)
Black Again
Church on Tuesday
Lady Picture Show
Vasoline
No Way Out
Big Empty (sometimes called Conversations Kill - u prolly know this song too)
Creep (amazing song)
Heaven and Hot Rods
Hollywood Bitch
Pretty Penny
Army Ants
Silvergun Superman
What u should do, just download all their songs from every album (their first album Cores, is FUCKIN AMAZING and every song is good) and then delete the ones u dont like. He changes his singing and stuff from album to album and I prefered the Cores style better but on each of the other CD's besides Cores, there are some good songs.
Anyway, I have a new found respect for you man, anyone that understands Alice is cool in my book :
