I remember we were being quite overwhelmed and started running away through the corridors. It looked like we were on a ship. We started hiding and I remember firing the under barrel grenade launcher at some alien scum Laughing And then I woke up.

if anyone's actually interested in pre-ordering this in the UK,
"simply games" have a good deal on this for the limited edition that comes with extra marine customization (ie: some crappy skins most likely, four movie characters and Ripley's flamethrower. £19.85 with free delivery.

I just picked this up on a whim, even though my instincts, no fuck that, my eyes are telling me it's gonna be shit from the trailers.. also bought persona 4 on pre-order with it, so will have at least one good game to play if this is a big fail. anyway linkage: http://www.simplygames.com/info/19429/Aliens-Colonial-Marines-Limited-Edition-PC

But nostalgia aside, what is there to really make this title stand out? It’s a decent shooter, which leaves you sufficiently unsettled and short of ammo to claim some survival horror elements.

For fans of the series, this is a must-have. But as a stand-alone game, it’s hard to see what makes this stand out from the crowd.

Ignore my sarcasm at the start... This seems a fairly honest preview. Laughing

that trashy tabloid's preview only reinforces UK PC Gamers preview from a couple of issues back. With PCG citing a dumb alien AI, that does nothing but swarm you in hordes, taking away any element of suspense or fear that some intelligent alien lifeforms are hunting you down. Was noted that there was some hope in the games multiplayer though when there is a human behind the aliens controls. Fair to say that expectations for this game aren't exactly high at this point in time.

Game just doesn't look great from the trailers, and I don't just mean from a graphical angle, gameplay doesn't look so hot either, hoping some fun can be had playing this in coop though?. The early Rebellon AvP and Monolith's AvP2 were minor classics but this one's looking pretty derp so far.

What I saw from the IGN video which showed the first campaign mission all the way through (and other stuff as well) and showed me that on the surface, it really is just another shooter.

With that said, I am a huge fan of the Aliens universe and have enjoyed (at least to an extent) all of the "Alien" games on the PC. The fact they added coop to the main campaign is a huge plus since I have a couple of friends that are also huge fans of the universe.

I know that my friends and I will enjoy it simply because of the universe and the coop aspect. This may sound like "giving in" on a "derpy game", and I can live with that. Sometimes a simple shooter can be fun simply because you and your friends are just having a good time blasting aliens.

Oh man. I might jump in on this. Is it possible to play with Steam players with the Origin version? I thought this game was "steamworks"? Did I miss something?

I'd wait until there's some more details available on how it was done, based on the comments it's not just as simple as buying it via Origin and changing the computer date ahead a few days.

Yeah I just noticed that myself, it has to be the Origin version though as the others go via Steam from what I know but how it was activated (Probably that offline mode trick.) or more importantly downloaded (Can't be done in offline mode.) I'm unsure about.

You only need Russian vpn for activation and after that, it's region free but they can easily put a region lock on it, so better wait until release date.
Based on early access subscription, Russian version is missing several language depots, so it probably will have only En/Ru languages, can't tell for sure. Smile

Its not a problem for me to activate it for VPN but I am afraid it will feature Russian only and/or it will be region locked like Skyrim - it can't be started unless its offline.. If its just the VPN stuff its a no brainer for me then.

I wonder why MS/Sony don't try implementing an online system like Steam/Origin for consoles in terms of encrypting and unlocking console titles.

You buy the game, but you have to wait till its official premier in order to play it. You activate/decrypt it online, or a small amount of game files get downloaded to complete your purchased copy of the game, and you're good to go.

Instead of trying to block off second-hand games in the new Xbox (if rumors prove true), they should focus on something similar...

About 5 missions in and it's very average shooter. Mostly it only has nostalgia going for it...mostly.

At 2nd missions you are introduced to human enemies which unfortunately shows how bland it is. Gun customization is basically cosmetic albeit the ability to change the underbarrel weapon. Who the fuck wants to put a silencer on a pulse rifle...that's just wrong. Very Happy

Graphics on the 360 is a mess...jaggies everyehere and poor textures all around. My only hope is that the pc version would be slightly better gfx wise but seeing as it is Sega,I doubt it. :/

All in all,it's worth a play for the nostalgia's sake. Smile
