But for people like me who prefer using a gamepad in 3rd person shooters, it is a major flaw. And whining, crying about good old Quake or CS days, how everything's ruined now is a tired cliche. Those days are over, consolitis is here to stay. If you can't accept it, maybe it is time to stop playing.
Boo. Fucking. Hoo. One game where your chosen input method doesn't work the way you want it to work - and not because the game fucks up your input, but because your input method isn't capable of doing what you need it to do. Now, want me to start listing out the games that have fucked up mouse controls because they were built for gamepads? I guarantee you that I'll win. The game does things right on this front so suck it up, us "elitists" have been doing it for years. Almost every game released from 2008 till early 2011 has had the same major flaw for me.

But it's not only one game, it's a third game in a series and still no change. Why is it so hard for you to understand that's it not about PC vs. Consoles? If the game is made for a controller asking for a quick-turn, then just make it available. Problem solved. It won't affect mouse users anyway, so why to get so offensive?
The biggest game of all time is coming out soon, but only for consoles first, designed for gamepads - GTA5. What are you going to do about - wait, like you do with Red Dead Redemption? Seems like your blind hatred towards consoles and their users is so strong, that you rather wait and drool than use an embarassing controller. Have you ever used one?
Just started playing this. Very disappointingly "cinematic!! " so far. Worse than DS2.
Haha, you haven't seen nothing yet kurwa!
It's a bit better now that I got my suit
Still, I find the cutscenes/convos
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

One good thing I have to say about the game even though it's rather shallow, is that the game does look incredibly beautiful when you get the suit, the green lighting from the helmet glowing in the dark, shadows, planets on the background etc. Truly feels like being in a sci-fi movie. Too bad it's all been wasted because of the mind-numbingly tedious and repetitive gameplay, dealing with one boring monster after another.
im in the 10th Chapter now, i gotta say i really liked the first ten in space and the ships. It gets kinda pew pewy now, not liking it sooo much. Lets wait and see how it develops.
Spoiler:
what i do like is the ambient female "isaac" voices that pops up from time to time, very subtle. Or am i imagining it? Am i going crazy?????

I will wait for the PC version with GTA 5 in fact, exactly because the input method will annoy me too much.
And I do have a PS3, including your precious RDR (but I still haven't gotten myself to finish it, because the aiming is so fucked up - either have the game do it for you or go through the excruciating use of the damn stick). I've also owned an MSX, every single Nintendo console, both the PSX and PS2 (so that makes it all Sony consoles too), a Mega Drive, Master System, Game Boy, Game Boy colour and I'm probably still forgetting some. Sadly no Dreamcast and the Xbox quite simply has never interested me.
I've also owned at least one gamepad to use with my PC since as long as I can remember. I built my own PC almost 20 years ago (and I'm still under 30, so that should give you an idea of how I grew up), still have almost all of my PSX games, a good chunk of my SNES games and even some NES games (my precious golden Zelda cartridge is never leaving me ).
So, come again?
I'm not the one that's stuck up. I'll switch to a gamepad when it's better. I don't play racing games with the keyboard (with or without mouse). I don't play beat 'em ups with a keyboard. I'm not the one hating on gamepads, I just acknowledge when they're inferior. You're the one hating on KB&M, any reason you're not using that?

We have a similar gaming background then, but still...
Since we're talking about Dead Space here, I actually played previous games with a mouse and keyboard and I remember one major annoyance with that setup - inventory management. If I recall correctly you had to use arrow or number keys to browse through items. I haven't tried it with DS3 and honestly I don't even care if it's any better or not, because every game that is designed for both mouse and gamepad, I always choose the latter. DS3 is just one recent example, just like DmC - I can't even imagine playing it with a keyboard...
What I also like about controllers is the difference in comfort. I don't like to hold my fingers in a position like I'm playing a piano for hours, it just doesn't seem natural to me. Keyboards were made for typing first, gaming came later, gamepads are only meant for gaming. It's much more comfortable to play game with a controller in your lap, relaxed in a chair than leaning over the table dealing with a bulky kb/mouse. That's simply my personal preference. I don't hate the keyboard or mouse, I'm actually using them right now - shocking, I know. There are only two exceptions in gaming - FPS and RTS genres. Other than that, gamepad all the way..
And last, there's analogue control. Good luck driving around in GTA5 then, I bet it feels much better with a keyboard...
I don't see a problem with using the 360 pad for this game.. I usually use it for 3rd person games..
Handy to go in other room, turn on the big screen and play on the couch relaxed (hence why i gave my 360 away)

The inventory issues are true enough - felt odd, but it always did support mouse controls. You hold down the middle mouse button and then move it around. Not perfect, but it works.. I guess the issue here is that you are supposed to be able to loook around while browsing, so mouse control is limited.
In general though, I don't see Dead Space as a game designed for gamepads. There is nothing in it that would work better with a gamepad, and considering that this is a game about precision aiming (uber-strategic dismemberment and all that) mouse controls actually seem the most natural.
To me, any game that involves aiming or looking around will be better with the mouse. No amount of "comfort" (and that one is debatable) is gonna make up for the struggles I have to endure for using the sticks for controlling the camera. The need for a "quick-turn" button is proof of that all by itself.
In any case, I am not here to push my way of playing onto everyone. Choosing what works best for someone is their own business. I also like playing AC games with the M/KB controls, which many people seem to think is "wrong"

Just because i find it more comfortable to play a game on the couch in the livingroom makes me a derp (with implying that a derp can't play games properly)?

You don't want that man.... you have to redeem yourself in front of him now so grab a mouse and keyboard, smear your fingers in cheeto dust and try to gain a few extra kilograms of weight by drinking 2 liters of coke. Only then your loyalty to pc gaming shall be restored.
Right. So after 12 hours and a little extra i finished the game on normal. Did all the side missions. Well the ones i could atleast ( co-op missions not included )
I gotta say that it is still very much Dead Space. True it has much more action orientated and with the co-op aspect then it is strange to suddenly see Carver ( co-op partner ) pop up next to you in some cutscenes like he has gone through the same shit you have. At one point Isaac and Carver started even having a conversation but i was all alone in the room... It is also sad that they have put some missions co-op ONLY...
Regarding the microtransaction thing then i am even more baffled in WHY would they even put it in. Collecting the materials was easy. At chapter 14 i had my rig fully upgraded and i even had used some materials to create some weapons. In the end i did find myself using the plasma cutter 95% of the game. With some damage and other boosts ofcourse.
Best part of the game was in the space section. Like previously mentioned by other members then when finally reaching the planet the action kicks up a notch. Not a big fan of that.
I am a sucker for space and everything related to space so like the Dead Space series. The series has been gradually mainstreamed but that is expected from EA-the worst company on Earth.
Story wise i was a little confused in the end. I mean seriously? Not going into details. Those who know what im talking about know.
Oh yeah something extra. Ammo... It turns out all guns use same ammo now? Mass Effect much? And when i first stepped on the rescue ship in like chapter 1 or 2 that got me from Moon then my first reaction was... "Oh noes is this going to be like Mass Effect with flying around in space and gathering some crew" because when walking around that ship with all the locked doors it kinda felt like it. You know like the doors that are closed when you have not got a crew member to occupy it yet.
When putting a score on the games separetely then i would put it like this:
Dead Space 8/10
Dead Space 2 7/10
Dead Space 3 7/10

I agree, the first game is the best. I've just hit the ice planet in the third and the one thing I don't like is the 200 year Necro thing simply because the insane survivors in the first game were one of the best things but there is no scope for that here, everyones mummified or necro.
Inventory system is really annoying with keyboard and mouse, I feel like I need 3rd hand. That is really problem for me these days... I even bought one and tried so many times in different games but no-go. During my army time I was stuck on top of some hill in the middle of nowhere and we had PS there. I had all time in the world to master that awsum device but unfortunately my hands reject controller like a badly transplanted organ.

What the hell did they do to my Line Gun? It's so slow, pointless using it. The rate of fire upgrades don't do anything for it either it seems.
Also, agree about the quick turn.. i use gamepad on these games because i tend to just steamroll through with mouse+kb. I did try it though and at least they got the feel of the mouse etc pretty spot on.

Still below Dead Space 2 and the original though.
If it wasn't for the crafting system it would be WELL below those two games.
Lackluster story, horrible characterization and dialogues, clumsy facepalming lack of logic, cliche ridden from the beggining to the end, etc.
I hope the person that had the idea to include human opponents is fired, it really doesn't fit the series at all.
And less retarded QTE's action sections... please?
Now I think I'll play the other two games
