Mini review
Only couple of missions in so very early impressions but graphics are okay, lighting is good, some of the textures are poor. Sound is great, the voice acting is no where as bad as the last trailer made out. Gameplay wise it feels like Aliens, the guns are authentic, story so far seems in keeping with the movies. I have it preordered and i haven't felt the need to cancel do far.
In summary, if this didn't have the license it would maybe be a 7 out of 10, because i am a huge Aliens fan i can overlook its flaws and i hope the multiplayer is good.

Yep, you can play the campaign coop as well either split screen or network.

Just played the first mission and someof the second, unfortunately this game sucks  Since I'm also a huge alien fan i really wanted to like it but besides the license there really isn't much to like.
Graphics are barely this gen. So imagine Quake4 from the launch window without the slowdowns but with framerate all over the place (it jumps between 25 and 60, at least thats how it feels). Heavy aliasing, shitty textures, shitty lighting, no mimic in character faces whatsoever. The "cutscenes" are super ugly, i couldn't believe it when i started the game up. Evern the start screen is low res :/.
Gameplay wise this is as generic as you can get. In the first mission alone i had like 10 situations where the npc said, cover me while I'm opening this door. Belive me its really that bad. The scripted events completely pull you out of the game and have never felt this clunky :/. AI is nonexistent just as a storyline, but I'm only like 45-60 Minutes into the game, so i won't bash it for that.
My first contender for biggest letdown 2013

I played alot dead space 3 and just tried this game
and damn this is bad.
I will continue dead space 3 because its much better.
Game looks ugly and is not scary at all.
The trailers are much better.

Guys in my opinion, it's not that bad it is distinctly average, the graphics are nowhere near cutting edge, it is a corridor shooter, but I didn't expect much else truthfully, Aliens is about close quarter corridor shooting and that's what this game delivers. It's an Aliens shooter and I am enjoying it. Nothing new or innovative but it is fun.

I'm on mission 4 and I really love it. GFX are ugly, story absent, but gameplay is great. It's really fast, no thrills of looking at the radar with cold sweaty hands. It's just a lot of gunfights, running, picking up powerups, switching weapons and it's awesome.
I swear that 99% of those 'game is awful' comments come from gfx whores, but ffs what did you expect from an aged console?! Who'd be making uber gfx as seen on early pre-rendered screenshots for a fast-paced shooter where you don't even have time to enjoy them? Of course the gfx are crappy!! But the game is FUN. It doesn't give any super homage (google the word if you don't know it) to Aliens or to the much awed concept of being a small frail human vs mighty killing machines, but it's fun on its own as it is.
As long as you can enjoy that you'll like it. If you expect a hollywood grade story, drama, insane voice acting and next-next-gen gfx - skip it.
P.S. I couldn't finish the llatest AvP so much I was bored. But I can't stop playing this one for some reason

What did we expect from an aged console? Anytthing that looks close to all the other games that are coming out on that aged console. This is the shittiest looking game I have played in a long time. BUT the presentation (which is shitty in every respect not only graphics) is not the only problem this game has, while it's so bad that it hurts A LOT, even if you are not a "gfx whore".
It's the gameplay or the lack thereof that's really destroying this for me. ffs this plays like a game from 15 years ago, there is absolutely no variety whatsoever, the level design is TERRIBLE and the enemies are simply not fun to fight. if this get's a metacritic score above 70 i'll be really surprised...
It's ok if you like it, but don't dismiss everyone else, who calls this turd for what it is, as a gfx whore

exactly my thoughts,Sega announced this game back in feb 2008,so it should of got a 2009 release at the latest but i guess workload pushed it back to the todo list.if it got released back in 2009 GFX & gameplay may of been more acceptable,but in 2013 when its the last major year for releases for xbox360/PS3 before the next gen this kind of game is certainly not acceptable especially for full price £39.99 should be £14.99 game at most..got crysis 3 soon that game will be pushing the current consoles to its limits & games of 2013 should be expected of this or similar quality especially at full price |

Oh come on BLaM! AvP wasn't that bad. In fact, it had great atmosphere. Visuals were really good and except for the Human campaign, I thought everything else was kick-ass.

AvP2010 was definitely the worst one , but I kinda enjoyed Predator and Alien campaign..hell I even completed it ( 6.5 / 10 ) ..this seems much worse..

Played it.
1. Graphics are terrible. Looks like a PS2 game. Cutscenes are horrible, character models are weird in the sense that they have bigger heads compared to their body. All of them.
2. Gameplay is very generic. Shoot random aliens with average gun. The gun model is also horrible. Aliens are animated well, but nothing special about it.
3. Frame rate is all over the place. During heavy action, it drops down to 20s it seems. From 60 to 20? Now that is a huge drop for a FPS.
I played for 2 hrs BTW. Not sure if I would like to continue. License wasted. Never expected this from Gearbox. They go from generic DNF to awesome BL2 and now back to ultra pathetic Aliens.
PS: Game might have a good MP and other online related features.
