my computer has been rebooting when im doing encoding and when i try to frame skip back an mpeg-4 video in media player classic. the only thing i can think of that is giving me problem is when i installed sp1 - i installed this because i bought a new 160gig hd and windows cannot see a partition over 137gigs with clean install of winxp (for those who didnt know). i made a screenshot of event viewer after it reboots.

if someone can give me some help i would gladly appreciate it - im asking here after trying my best to find answers on tech forums and if you need my computer specs just ask.

so u have a WAREZ computer huh? Very Happy

nyway, Im no expert on this area, but since no 1 have replyed yet, I will try.

So what gfx card do u have? since u working with sp1 on xp, im guessing u dont update stuff that much or just prefer it when it works Smile nyway point is that the new gfxcards have builtin decoder so u might wanna update ur drivers... if u have 1 that is!

Also could be the systems driver, VIA/Intel also try updating does.

Sounds like it could be alot of things, faulty hardware, drivers or overheat, but since it only started after sp1 installed, it sounds like a driver issue.

Good luck

thanx man for the reply. i think its either over-heat of the hd's(cause the new one runs extreemly hot)/cpu or just sp1 in general having driver conflicts.

0x0000009C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION

This is a hardware issue: an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely lead to a clear solution. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware (RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc.), or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities (e.g., overclocking a CPU).
Error Message: STOP: 0x0000009C... {KB 329284} Win XP

ive had this problem before, think it was caused by dodgy drivers if i remember correctly
