As far as I know, they want to do a public alpha.
If that's true, I don't see how they can do a public alpha and go to gold in less than 2 months.
That just doesn't make sense.
Besides they must be behind the schedule thanks to the arrest of the 2 devs in Greek. Remember that one of them is just ArmA's lead designer. If it's true that they have diverted resources to DayZ standalone, than I would say that the best chances would be by the end of the third quarter or in the begin of the fourth quarter.

I agree with you, it seems very unlikely given that the game should be already almost completed by now (which I don't think it is). I guess we'll have to wait until the BI guys clarify everything.

And they said they want to make this one the most bugless of all their releases.

If they're still in the Alpha stage, then you'd be lucky to see it this year.

Here's to hoping its not an unoptimized piece of shit like ARMA 2.
I never understood why performance is so damned poor in that game. Is it simulating the effect a breeze has on each individual blade of fucking grass? Trying to find the cure for cancer in the background? The paint drying on the fucking walls of the building? What could possibly be going on in that game that would bring a 3.5ghz quad to its fucking knees on a regular basis?
As much as I applaud them for trying to go the "simulator" route in infantry combat, the engine they used on the previous iteration has to be one of the most poorly coded pieces of shite ever produced.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I found ARMA II more optimized than the first one. I remember playing the game with a 8800gt and a q6600 at 2.4ghz without problems on normal settings. Then moved to a 6850 ATI and I maxed it out in most areas.

Hehe at least it will be easier for them (and for us too) to handle all the multiple incoming updates, and finally have all the deals under control (I bet they didn't like Amazon's for example..the games were too cheap ).

So that's €25 for access to the Alpha, Beta and Full release?
Nice.
(and some Alpha invites to give to my non-existent friends)

It's a pity that they don't have a box edition...
Still haven't decide which package I'll buy.
