When I first saw the "aiming down the sights" in a gameplay video my reaction was:
"OMG, that's lame!"
Don't know why, but now it seems the whole game sucks.

My review about colonial marines
Hi there,
i got the x-box version and i also preordered the pc version cos it looks much better on pc.
Here are some of my thoughts:
- It plays like call of duty: aliens. You will fight hundreds of aliens along the story while
you are able to kill 5 aliens in 10 seconds without having much to fear.
Its the absolute casual experience. Play as an ultimate rambo baddass marine,
killing 10.000 xenos to save the world, press X to win!
- Xbox-visuals are indeed very poor. it looks allmost like a PS 2 game.
- the singleplayer experience is terrible. Lots of small bugs
- Way to easy for a alien game. (only in singleplayer). Aliens are much slower than in the aliens vs predator (2010) game.
shocked? well, now to the good stuff:
EPIC replay value! The wohle singleplayer story gets alot better if you play it in co-op mode. The aliens will be much harder to kill and it kinda uses a AI director like in left 4 death, so even if you play the same map twice, the aliens will never apear at the same locations. You can also revive players, give ammo, heal other people and all the stuff.
LOTS of cool unlocks and customisation. There are many unlocks for both marines and xenos. new weapons, skins, gadgets, perks and alot more. You get eperate unlock points for marines and for xenos. You can customise your character (gender, skins and so on)
MULTIPLAYER pwnage. Seriously, this game realy shines when it comes to online play. You can play the wohle campaign in co-op mode....you also have 4 VS modes (Humans vs playable xenos) team deathmatch, survivor, extermination and escape. The modes are very balanced and fun to play.
SOUND and music is awesome
Result:
If you want a good singleplayer game dont get it. Dont even look at it!
If you want a good multiplayer game, preorder already!
If you have any questions, just ask. English is not my native language, so keep all errors

So where the 2010 version was just a little more streamlined and quite a bit slower than the 2000 version, this one is even more streamlined, even slower and to top it all off looks like the 2000 version?

The original Rebellion version of AvP (Or maybe that was the version you meant, I thought AvP 2 was released in 2000 but I just remembered the first one got a re-release around then.) anyway that one had the aliens being extremely fast but they were also extremely fragile, just a few bullets totally dismembered a normal alien though the praetorian was a bit more resistant.
(There was a "pred-alien" in survival mode but that was more of a extra, runners and drones mostly with a praetorian in a few places and the occasional facehugger, no chesetburster in the first game but they're not really that deadly, as usual the queen was the end boss for the marines and I think it was pretty strong in the first game.)
AvP 2 had them being a bit slower but also more durable.
AvP 2010 did the same from what I remember, somewhat slower but slightly sturdier.
I've not seen how it's in this Alien game but I had hoped they would have been a bit faster since that's one of their main advantages.
(Sure they're deadly but most of the variants need to be close for melee attacks or biting or tail swing.)
EDIT: Oh I totally forgot the androids and "XenoBorgs" in the first game, those were weird.
(Well first and first, Atari and Jaguar had some previous releases now that I think about it, some arcade beat-em-up version existed too.)

It has lan, or well wasn't there a image posted earlier about the network settings showing a LAN option, IGN video as the source.

finished this game in coop, and its one of the worst fps experiences i had in the last decade.
at parts the game is so bad that its funny to play it and laugh at it, but mostly its just very, very bad.
atleast it was only 5-6 hrs for campaign so i didnt waste too much time with it, and any game you play next after it feel like a fucking masterpiece.

There was also the Alien Trilogy. It wasn't bad and was scary but I had played it long time ago so I don't remember it very well.

in this game its also the slightly slower and sturdier kind, but a bit faster than in avp 2010.
that said, they dont respresent any real danger since you can melee-stun them when they get close and then shoot them to pieces.
any normal human enemy in the game presents more of a danger than 2 aliens, but the game is very easy overall, you d best play on hard if you really have to play this piece of shit.

i could see the appeal in cooping this one, it usually distracts from how horrible a game is.

I meant Rebellion's game
It was released in 1999, AvP 2 in 2001, but the 1999 version is known as "AvP 2000" nowadays because of the re-release 2.5 years ago, that's why I referred to it as such. Monolith's game (AvP 2) also wasn't as much fun as the original
And yeah, aliens were extremely fragile in that game, but that was the point. They were also so fast that (especially in MP) if you weren't paying attention and got jumped, you were almost surely fucked. Exactly how it should be, the Predators were the sturdy ones of the three. Then I look at the videos from this game and the aliens are so slow it makes me cringe. I'm sure Meseder will be happy though, because that's what makes it playable with gamepads and that's the only reason they slowed it down.
