I only ever preordered Guild Wars 2. Looking back I regret it, because if I'd waited till release date I could have get it for a bit cheaper. Sure I had access to beta weekends, but in the end it's nonsense having to pay for testing a damn game. It's far better to wait and enjoy a full finished product. But I was too hyped to pass up on it.

If you really like a game, pre order it, if they start charging prices for dlc which you like, buy it, if they charge stupid money feck them off.
Basically, if you enjoy a game you are going to buy it as long as the price is right, or in most cases pirate it, which i do not do at all these days.

Only things I preordered were both Witcher games (for those sweet Collector's editions), but only because I was sure of their quality. There were a few I bought just after launch (obviously Deus Ex:HR, duh Wink ) and I was never dissatisfied with the purchase.

I usually preorder games and many times I don't get disapointed.
The ones I did get disapointed on (that I can remember right now) are Warfighter/RB6:Lockdown and the last Silent Hunter.

Last game I pre-ordered was uh....Bioshock?

If they can't release a demo, then I'm not paying for it.

You're not only missing the point, but you also can't read apparently. Day 1 =/= pre-order.

However that mistake was later corrected, I still regret that "purchase". Sad

Never pre-order a game. The only game I bough on release day was Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Mostly because of the beta. I rather wait a year for GOTY/GOLD/COMPLETE or whatever edition to fully experience everything games has to offer in on or two playthroughs. Also some games takes months to fix all their bugs and other problems.

Yeah, this is very true. With all the crazy DLC-mania lately, you basically pre-order the 60-70% of a game. Laughing

Thankfully for many of the multiplayer ones it is possible to buy additional stuff through shady sites or exploits like the Indian BFPremium thingy.

I've fortunately become quite adept at spotting what games are going to turn out like utter crap. The last pre-order that had me disappointed was Oblivion I think, Quake 4 before that. Other than those, pretty much everything was exactly what I expected it to be. I have absolutely no regrets about HL2, BF3, DX:HR, Batman: AC or any of the other numerous titles I've pre-ordered.

On the other hand I'm very happy that I didn't fall for the latest "Hitman" game (for as far as it can be called one), or Rage for example.

So will I keep pre-ordering? Yes, if it's a developer that I know will put in the effort. Whatever Rocksteady do next, there's a good chance they have my money. Eidos Montréal? Yes please. Valve? Sure. Slightly Mad Studios after pCARS (which already has my money)? Yep. CDPR? Probably, yeah. Arkane? Bring it.

id? Nope. Bethesda? Nope. Gearbox? Nope. Crytek? Reaction

Actually, Diablo 3 was also another failure pre-order. Then again, that cost me $18 a few years ago, so no big loss and for $18 it was fine Razz

this isn't about "what game was worth the money when i bought it", but about spending money on games with PREORDER.

Stop deviating from the topic, please.
