did you try loading a somewhat earlier save?

Yes, I tried everything: reload, console using, deactivating the patches in the mod start manager - no success. Even if you use the console it does not work. Miraak continues after every re-surrection to fire at an imaginary place where the third dragon should be - but he isnt there. since he does not land but only attack from the air. I have no idea why this happens - maybe another bug. I am getting tired Sad

I installed this to fix the issue.

About time. Smile
(Getting rid of scripts in the save file.)

EDIT: Or maybe it's a bit overly destructive.

Yeah it seems it will remove all scripts and the game does rely on states from them to set various conditions and such stuff so while this does solve the script bloat issue it looks like it will also break a number of other functionality.
(As the comments for the utility state this does work but it's also very risky and it will break a few things.)

Also the 1.0.1 beta of the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch is now out for testing (As is the 1.2.0 Dawnguard unofficial update.) and amongst other things it properly merges the script fixes so it should fully fix the absorb problem. Smile

I guess it's best to complete all current quests and such before attempting this?

finished too the two dlcs, dawnguard liked way more (allied with the vampires) , had more interesting quests (i think the vampire questline is best in the whole game Razz ), the new areas were great and also the lore about snowelves was awesome; the perks from vampire lord were overpowered imo but didnt liked playing as a vampire anyway...
About dragonborn, i was a bit dissapointed about the island, was kinda ugly mostly but probably because of the ash Very Happy and very dissapointed about skaal village (remember when reached it in bloodmoon it was awesome made); also the dlc has a powerfull morrowind vibe with the dunmer and their buildings + those mushrooms (hated them in morrowind) and even the music is from the 3rd game. Im dissapointed also about the dragon riding thing, tought you could control them but seems its useless, you get bored about it quickly
Curious what the next dlc could be about, i would love something about the dissapearence of the dwarfs but that seems a long shot

Some "smaller" script conflicts are possible (The unofficial patches encountered one but it's sorted now.) but otherwise it keeps nearly exclusively in it's own territory of Solstheim.
(The Windhelm docks are modified lightly and there's some random encounter setups, Ebony warrior is also in Skyrim and not on Solstheim and some of the new equipment is set up using existing leveled lists so bandit bosses and similar can at times be seen using Nordic Carved Armor, heh.)

Good, I guess it's time for my modded playthrough of Skyrim Very Happy

If I do not buy dragonborn or dawguard (I'll leech them), will steam download the official HR textures for these DLCs? So can I just download Dawnguard/Dragonborn.bsa/esm and play it with the latest updates for the game and HR packs? Or will steam just ignore the DLCs and not update?

I have to assume you already have the new high-res pack (3 esp's and 3 bsa's weighing around 4.39 Gb), because it contained some fixes for the textures from the original game, not just the DLCs. So if you have the free high-res DLC on your account it should have downloaded the update automatically. If you don't have it though, I doubt that adding any esm files will change that, since Steam doesn't actually check which plugins you have activated. If the DLC textures are separate downloads, Steam probably checks if the corresponding DLCs are registered on your account.

Update: I checked the insides of the bsa files from the HR pack, it seems that each of the three has a mix of DLC/vanilla game textures. So unless they have different versions of the same pack for the people who have just one DLC, both of them or none of them, you should have the update already.

Ok thanks, Steam did indeed download 4.4GBs of textures. I assume the textures for the DLCs are always included, whether you bought them or not.

so we dont really need the texture pacls like SkyrimHD if we hav the official HD texture packs? I take they just overwrite a lot of each other making the use of them both redundant?

Still no success with my issue about no longer being able to absorb souls and the unsolvable end fight against Miraak Sad

But I found out, that I am not the only one with this problem:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/846944052856316499/?l=english

And I can confirm (see last posting of the thread I mentioned above) that this seems to be an issue that has nothing to do with any MODs or "unofficial patches" for the DLCs.
I removed everything with exception of the original Skyrim files and the official DLCs - and the problem is persisting. It has to be a bug in Dragonborn itself - maybe in combination with Skyrim or another DLC.

so, waiting for a patch/fix continues... have something else to play this weekend Crying or Very sad

That's one of the better for kill-cams, adds some new ones too (Unused files?) and you can fully customize the settings via SkyUI and it's MCM framework.
(Percentage chance for it to trigger, if it only works on the last enemy in a group, chance of the animation being a decapitation - on enemies that support it - and camera perspective.)

Strange thing about that dragon soul absorbing if it still occurs with just the main game and DLC active, odd.

Did you hit him too hard? Razz

The fight is scripted for various health stages so if you take out a lot of his health at once it might bug the behavior or scripts controlling this.
(He should have around 20 - 25% HP left and then he does that thing of his and the fight resumes, continues like that until he's finally defeated.)

Judging by the comments on the nexus a lot of people seem to be complaining about the unofficial patches (vanilla and DLCs). I'm in doubt whether to use them since once I start playing with these, apparently bug introducing, mods, I can't removethem anymore. Do all of you use these patches?

I had to disable the unofficial patch since it made Breezehome crash.

Thanks, I'll just disable them all before I start.

A question for people who have finished the game with and without SkyRE: How was it? I rarely use such intrusive mods, but this one seems very cool.

Yeah Hearthfire alters (carelessly deletes.) the "navmesh" in Breezerhome (And deletes the cooking pot if I read that correctly.) so any mod that alters that navigation mesh will cause a crash due to it being seen as deleted by the game.

There's no way to restore those at the moment so the unofficial dawnguard patch worked around the issue and they probably did something to the normal unofficial patch as well.
(Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn both delete a bunch of content which is why cleaning them and "undeleting references" with TES5Edit - latest version, .28 or what it's at now - is extremely recommended.)

Also due to the heavy script reliance in the unofficial patches you can get a variety of issues by just disabling them since those scripts are still save-game bound and being called.
(At worst you get a sort of spam which creates new references/form-id's constantly and balloons out the file size by several time, eventually killing the save game completely.)

(And you definitively don't want to disable the DLC themselves, it will give you problems eventually.)

EDIT: Breezerhome?
(I'm getting tired.)
