Gonna try this again see if I can get into it better now. Is there some kind of quickstart guide as to what mods I should use?

only have a 560gtx-ti so not sure if I can use any gfx mods.

Yeah Hearthfire alters (carelessly deletes.) the "navmesh" in Breezerhome (And deletes the cooking pot if I read that correctly.) so any mod that alters that navigation mesh will cause a crash due to it being seen as deleted by the game.

Yeah, I spent a couple of hours last week fixing the game as I had the Dovahkiin Hideout installed and only recently purchased Dawnguard/Hearthfire on sale, so I crashed everytime I entered Breezehome. I quickly found on the nexus an update to the Hideout that fixed that (not by the creator though). However I then decided to completely uninstall Hideout (and just build my own house as allowed by Hearthfire in the future), but only after removing all the stuff I had stored there (quite a lot) and that's where I spent most of those 2 hours Razz

Well you still need to download each separate texture mods, so have fun with that.

A question for people who have finished the game with and without SkyRE: How was it? I rarely use such intrusive mods, but this one seems very cool.

I've read up on this, it seems a bit too extensive. Almost everything is changed and apparently an Oblivion style level scaling system is introduced. Sounds a bit bad Sad

Apparently it also breaks other mods (armor and weapon mods for example) since SkyRE changes item stats too. Damn.

morrowloot+e.r.s.o modules 08 and 09. that is gonna make weapon choices matter and prevent the enemies from always being near your level. none of that oblivion crap where bandits start wearing epic armors and weapons later. everything is lore friendly and logical.

and its not like most of the big gameplay mods that change so much that it inevitably breaks your game in some way. bug free for 80 hours already.

im also still being challenged, at second to last difficulty. can't steamroll through everything even as a lvl 35 char.

Wow, this seems excellent thanks.

Regarding SkyRE and armor/weapon mods, it seems the SkyRE modder has released a tool to automagically tweak such mods.

I used the Texture Packer tool linked above and it's done. So there's one rar file now you can import in NMM and play. Would you guys be interested if I uploaded it to usenet or something? I only played 30 minutes or so with it since I have currently no time, no crashes. To be clear, it's ONLY TEXTURE MODS. It's not a total package. See the link above for all the mods incorporated in it.

lol. Well yeah, but it's just the same stuff over and over again. Done all the important stuff, I think. Probably some good side quests that I haven't found yet too. I'm waiting for my Dawnguard key from that stupid 365games company Sad

Actually, SkyRE has nothing in common with Oblivion, or level scaling for that matter. In fact, enemies are much tougher than in vanilla. And combat is a bit more tactical (and hence more fun). With stamina drain introduced and stamina affecting the amount of damage you inflict and weapon swinging speed among others, it's almost hardcore. Oh, and wearing heavy armour will make you mvoe like a pregnant cow, as you're slowed down. In return, heavy armour protects waaaaay beter than light.

I see you've figured it out later by yourself that there's a reproccer patch for the mod, which allows you to import any weapon or armour without problems. It is also highly compatible with a shitload of other mods.

I must say that SkyRE is far superior to vanilla. I'd never, ever play vanilla again.

The guy doesn't say which version of TCP they used though. Judging by the screen he posted, it's a very old version. Which would mean the texture mods usd are very old versions. You should check up on that. Current version for TCP is 1.94b.

If you're (understandably) bored of the beginning, then use Alternate Start. It's pretty amazing and gives a fresh approach to the game. Sorry, can't give you a link as I'm on shitty Internet atm, but you will find it on the nexus.
