I managed to get another dev beta key to my other email last night..since I tried with 2, I guess both got one..so dont feel bad now ankh
Ive been playing all night, Im really enjoying it. once you get into it a while it does have that old complex simcity feel.
And I dont think the graphics are as cartoony as some claim (at least to me)

The last filter is the one I like the best.
Its been around 10 hours into it, got 40k people and still having fun. so I have to say its a buy for me

I have an email saying im in closed beta 2, but it finishes at 2pm on the 17th, I'm currently downloading it now and I'm at 26%, is it even worth downloading?

I have an email saying im in closed beta 2, but it finishes at 2pm on the 17th, I'm currently downloading it now and I'm at 26%, is it even worth downloading?
Id say yes.
But you will only see it for yourself if you actually try it.
none of graphic settings apart from shadows/lighting changes anything, I can go from min to maximum textures and game still looks horrible without any change..
So i guess, for each level, data has to be downloaded from the EA servers?
Because right now i seem to be stuck on:

Yeah running fullscreen here, my tweak is still working because i can put the desktop in 1440p, yet not the game..
But the game has shit optimization anyway, only shit changing fps is lighting.. When put on "min", i get ~70-80 fps, when put on "low" fps drops instant to around ~30...
Can't play like that..

I've just played the 1 hour beta 2 but when i try to restart another game it says select a server but none come up?
Can't i play this more then once or something?

I have played the Closed Beta 2 today. I really liked it besides the VERY limited space. You can build something like a big village rather than a huge town. This is funny because you can check the other cities around you and you can see how big the land is but this land is empty. Its not given to the players.. And the other thing that I don't liked are the specializations. I mean I like the idea but there are just 5-6 specializations at all.. I will get the game for sure. Its very good overall.
I dunno, i always found cities XL to be too serious, you can build pretty nice shit but everything just feels so dead to me, i could never get into it for some reason.
I've preordered this one, even though i like the whole region play, i wish switching back & forth between cities didn't involve loading screens, it takes away a lot of the (fake) immersion.
I don't mind the city sizes so much, the beta doesn't give you a lot of access to things & i found the game didn't really start to hit the sweet spot on keeping you busy & somewhat challenged until you built it all out & had it grow, yet you didn't even have access to 80% of the buildings and by the time it was properly grown out the beta timer ran out.
