Console players will play on low difficulty and go for pew pew. Unless you plan to play it like that, don't pay that much attention to their impressions/reports about how long it is.

Yeah sure. And every PC gamer is deep and shit.

Never said that.

No, I haven't come across that. I told you that Crysis 1 can probably be completed very fast if you maximum speed through the levels. These games aren't meant to be played like that. So I'm going to ignore the first reports from console players, unless they give me a good reason not to.

"can probably be completed" no, unless you use engine bugs/tricks.

The first game may be dumb, but it is a relatively long game.

As I said you get out of it the effort you want to put in.

Examples:

http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4417

Quote:
It was short, around 5-6 hours if you're playing on the easiest difficulty. Depending on what difficulty you were playing on, it would extend.

Quote:
not sure my time in crysis but in warhead I did a time run and it was between 2-3 hours (not including load times).

http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/26784287

Quote:
You cand do the sp campaign in Crysis in about 8 to 16 hours depending of the dificulty level and how far you spent time exploring alternative rutes, searching for hidden weapons and equipment... Warhead campaing can be done in 5 to 10 hours.

Quote:
This game was pretty short, I'd say a bit longer than CoD4 only.

Quote:
Yah I'd say a bit longer then CoD4. It's a fun game though.

Are you kidding me, i almost upgraded my computer to play crysis, one of the shortest games ever!!!! How could one of the most anticipated games ever be so flippin short. What a joke, sorry just finished it and i need to vent. Again all i can say is WOW!!!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/crysis-2/101919-crysis-1-anyone.html

Quote:
crysis 1's only fault was the length of 4 hrs maximum.

While the 4-5 hour reports might be exagerated, I'm pretty sure Crysis on easy can easily be completed on ~8.

If the game will let me*, I'll choose the panther way as always, exploring the levels and stabbing people from behind, which would guarantee me some more time. But if it's actually yet another cinematic scripted carousel (and I bet it is, for the most part) those 5 hours won't magically become 10 since you have to follow them pretermined binaries that Mr.Orly has proudly designed for us.

The graphics on the other hand seem to be pretty good this time (surely better than Crysis 2 with its excessive bloom and 'fake' colours overall), so hopefully it will at least be pleasant to the eyes. It's something Laughing

Crysis 1 was huge and long, open world.
Crysis 2 was sectioned and quote short, quite linear.
Crysis 3 will be a few levels, completely linear.

They announced Crysis 3 almost directly after they released Crysis 2. It's like Crysis 2.5, we took some planned but discarded Crysis 2 DLC's, turned them into a game and tweaked the engine.. Oh, we added a kick ass bow as well.

First time through Crysis 1 (And Warhead) and Crysis 2 didn't take that many hours as I just played through them, second playtrough took a fair while longer though since I explored the areas and for Crysis 2 also found all those little collectibles.

Since Crysis 3 has fewer levels (But probably larger and more open?) I guess 6 - 8 hours is a fairly OK guess on game length if you just go through the game as a standard FPS.

Finding all those little extras if there are anything and using alternate methods to complete the levels (Stealth or such.) plus those "side missions" whatever they are will probably add 2 - 4 more hours, just a guess though as I've not played the game myself.

This. Crysis 2 was 19 chapters long. It wasn't short unless you wanted it to be.

Some 360 gameplay:

"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."

when i hear people "x" game was short it makes me want to bitchslap them. Of course its short if you run and gun like an idiot all over, of course its short if you don't stop a little and admire the scenery or search the corners for something hidden or stuff. Of course its short if you run thru it skipping all you can, most of this type of "gamers" when see some footage of the game on youtube they are going like: "ohh there was that stuff in the game?" well F.U. I hate retards like this... guys, its like a retarded olympics contest "who finish first the game and fastest" , well congratz for your prize retards. I like to take my time when playing a game and when asked about it i don't answer "i pew pew pew and battle a boss the end"

Crysis and Warhead were fucking amazing! back then when I played the game the first time
My mind was blown at the visuals, the sheer scale and the almost superpower like ability of the nano suit to Run, jump and gun, use stealth tactics, The aliens were pretty cool too,
The zero G level inside the alien ship, The last battle on the carrier were fucking amazing!

It looked like the franchise had great potential but then they decided to go with aliens attack New york city or some bullshit, I barely even remember any memorable moments in crysis 2 and this game looks good but it just doesn't hold a candle to the original.

Now it looks like any other generic shooter. Its a damn shame. Mad

Yes it's similar though Steam doesn't usually have a fully time-zone dependent release, unsure how to explain it better but with Origin and it's activation method you can use a Australian VPN connection to skip several hours before the US release on the 19th.
(Late afternoon on the 18th I guess, don't have the game myself so I can't check various VPN connections to see where it would unlock the earliest.)

EDIT: Origin also doesn't do full encryption, pre-loading installs the full game and then it's the copy protection which decides when you can activate and play the game. Smile
(The Crysis 3 pak files are encrypted however just as with Crysis 2 so I can't check the config files or anything, unfortuantely.)

Indian origin store, 8 months ago.

And I'd advise to try the isodemo first.

Hum, seems like AU unlock time is:
20 February, 14:01

While US has:
19 February, 06:01

So I guess US vpn then. Smile

Interesting, I was wrong then. Smile
(Must be divided as something like US, EU, ROW - rest of world - then.)
