It's probably a decent hack'n slash, and it hasn't been shown as anything else.

QFT. It's neither a vital part of the franchise, nor did it mean the end of classic MGS (MGS5/Ground Zeroes is in production and it looks pretty close to what one would expect).

They handled the situation pretty well if you ask me.

They would handle it even better if they actually confirmed that goddamn Ground Zero on PC instead of teasing us Evil or Very Mad

It would be interesting if they continue the Metal Gear Rising franchise. The next game could be a Sims like game where you play as Drebin and just travel around selling guns and playing with monkeys.

I don't see any reason to not care about the story or characters, it could turn out really good (I can't play it yet, can't confirm).

Let me explain the short version without writing a wall script full of shit:
I'm glad to see a new spinoff action game in the same universe, created by a separate developer.

Btw, it appears to be a fuck'tton years later after the events of MGS4, so you probably never see another real classic MGS tactical action espionage game in the same timeline to continue arguing like a derpy monkey. Enjoy (?)

Interinactive by your logic no one should be allowed to make anything in the same universe that's significantly different than the original. It was clearly labeled as a spinoff that's nothing like MGS, aside from sharing the universe.

By your logic, none of the various Batman movies should exist since the new ones differ so much than the old ones. And god forbid you create a Batman spinoff GAME! That's the same universe, same characters, only it's a freaking GAME (referring to your Blue Simpsons analogy).

I'm just pointing out your analogies are crap, that's it. I hate when people make up some stupid analogy to prove their point, that really has little connection with reality.

Don't really care about MGS, nor have I played it.

Yeah, just the same universe, history, characters, timeline... nothing major there.

Mind Is Full Of Fuck

So if I understand correctly by your definition a "a well behaved" spin off should only happen in a parallel reality Surprised ?

Weird how it made no sense yet you somehow understood and responded to it initially.

Anyway, I was attempting to call attention to your Blue Simpsons analogy with the Batman example because that near exact (Replace "blue simpsons" with "Dark Knight" and "different humor" with "darker") analogy obviously worked for the Batman movies. Nolans batmans are darker version of the previous movies, while most other things remained the same. This is pretty much what you describe in your Blue Simpsons analogy.

In your Far Cry 3 analogy, I attempted to call you out with Game <-> Movie transition. You use an example of 3D shooter becoming 2D game, and I use an example of Movie becoming a game. Again this has worked fine for Batman franchise.

There is nothing inherently wrong with either of those things. If you are trying to prove some point it's not working by using those analogies.

@Interinactive

You didn't answer my question. I didn't ask you anything regarding this game.

I'll ask again.

So if I understand correctly by your definition a "a well behaved" spin off should only happen in a parallel reality Surprised ?

Or I'll ask it another way: What is your definition of "spin off"?

Batman movies are spinoffs of the comics, and so are the games. Therefore my second game analogy.

Which of those games, movies or books spin off in a way where they share the same timeline, characters, actors and universe, then claim to be different by a simple title change? And you're the one who hates poor analogies Laughing

You are now saying MGR is somehow the same as MGS except for the difference in the title?

Obviously it features very different gameplay so I'm sure you're not, but you need to learn to express yourself better. I'm sure it all makes sense in your head but it doesn't make sense to someone reading it without any insight.

That's pretty much been my whole point. Reading your analogies, as they were written, doesn't make a point you're trying to make.

He said that Rising is selling well worldwide so far, giving him further license to do as he pleases. The man is near-untouchable at the moment, but he remains humble, piling immense praise on Platinum Games’ end-product. Should a Rising sequel happen, Kojima wants Platinum back for round two.
