I would go open loop if the closed loop systems were not a third of the price of a decent open loop system, and you generally don't have to worry about messing something up and ruining your system with closed loop. I use an H100 for my cpu right now and I am satisfied.

BUT, I have only recently realized after checking the real voltage readings on my motherboard how seriously good a custom loop is.

Sure I paid 300€ thereabouts for it BUT can a H100 or any other closed loop keep your Prime95 temps at 67/74/75/66 with your VCore at 1.58V? Very Happy

I completely agree. I want to go open loop but can't afford it right now. So I settle for the next best thing. And just out of curiosity what kind of system would you recommended for a 2600k and 7950. I would not need anything too elaborate, just a good basic starter system.

Are there closed loops for dual sinks?

Nvm, The H100i is still a wish from my side. But with current economical situation it's not happening anytime soon.

Well, Maxwell (next-gen nVidia) has been delayed to 2014 (latest word at any rate) and AMD isn't doing releasing anything major until somewhere around that time as well.

Your choice. 7950 is a bargain, 7970 has a bit more oomph and overclockability (chip-of-the-luck though).

On the other hand there may be price drops coming soon.. Spring drops.

The "supposed" TITAN has been released in Spain via Online Stores for the trolling prohibitve? price of 979€ (that's price with IVA/whatsoever it's called over there)

http://tienda.lifeinformatica.com/gigabyte-tarjeta-grafica-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan.htm

They DONT mention with "version" is (you know,760,770,etc...)

Well, hopefully they pricedrop the 660Ti or the 670GTXs to a reasonable 200-300€ final price tag..i'd get a 670GTX if i can get an specific 6pin (PSU) to 8pin (GPU) cable from Thermaltake..

€1,109.05 EUR for the ASUS Titan on the biggest online hardware site in Sweden... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

And there's no 780GTX tag or anything like that on the cards here either, just Geforce Titan 6GB.

It's a card for image and prestige for NV. They're releasing it just for the sake of having the most powerful single-GPU'ed card. Plus, it won't be associated with any generation of GPU's. The GTX780 will be a different card and will probably come out later this year.

Performance and overclocking reviews for Titan are out. Underwhelming to say the least.

Voltages are the same as GK104, but the clock is 17% lower. Similarly, it doesn't overclock anywhere near as well as a good GK104 sample, most seem to get stuck around +110-+120. In fact, overclocking is relatively limited as you can't overvolt the regular way. It seems they've got the chip running near its limits straight out of the box.

Compute wise it's the obvious improvement over GK104, but it still loses out to the 7970 in some cases or barely matching/beating it.

Gaming wise, same story. Massively underwhelming results in Dirt: Showdown for example where it has less of a lead over Tahiti than Tahiti does over GK104 - and with higher resolutions (Surround/Eyefinity) the difference is negligible, definitely not worth the cost of THREE 7970's. In fact, that trend comes back in more games, where the lead over the 7970 GE is the same as that one's lead over the 680. What worries me more is that minimum FPS is often extremely close to the 7970 GE. And overall it still loses out to a 7970 CFX or 680 SLI solution; that comes with microstuttering of course, but also only costs 60-80% of what a Titan costs.

The only part I'm impressed with is the thermals, noise and power consumption. For such a big chip, that's really not that bad. Power consumption is, but thermals + noise are good for a 551mm^2 chip.

Definitely a PEEN product. That price just makes it more ridiculous than a MARS, 690 and such.

guess i'll wait a couple of months then and get a 7970 if i can't wait any longer Smile

Well performance gains by themselves certainly look nice for the Titan. It's easily a next-gen card by those numbers. But the price is just ridiculous...
Assuming it's gonna be sold at 1000€ or higher around here, I can buy three 7970s for that same price (almost - 349€ for Sapphire's 7970 with a custom cooler). Obviously having a single GPU vs three is preferable for far too many reasons, but I am just talking about the numbers here - not practical solutions Smile

Actually, three eliminates microstutter on both Nvidia and AMD. It's because if one card falls behind, rather than the second one having to wait, the third one will most likely pick up the slack. That way it can still display a frame within a reasonable timespan and the slow frame just gets dropped Smile

Ooh.. didn't know that. I guess I'll be off to pick up a pair of 7970s now Very Happy

I am actually more intimidated by the fact that I will need a giant case, motherboard with 3 PCI-E x16 slots, and a monster of a power supply. Also it just kinda freaks me out having so much hardware stuck in one case... there will come a time when I will need to get rid of those cards, and it's hard enough to say goodbye to one Crying or Very sad

Which doesn't make it any longer DV2. If old cards fit, so will new ones, they're still the same damn length (9.5 to 10.5 inches typically)

While I had similar concerns with my GPU upgrades, it wasn't much of a dilemma really... get the dimensions of the card and see how much room you have. Also, by looking at the pictures, that cooler doesn't look like it makes the card much bigger than the reference one (looks pretty much the same to me, actually).
