Thats like the 4th render or product display image for a phone that has water splashes on it I'v seen.
Why do they do that? Is it a common thing to have your phone out that close when pissing in a urinal, or whipping it out to check the time while water skiing?

Ever needed to use a phone during a rain without the fear of losing warranty due to water damage (or whatever the fancy term is).

Not really no.
If its raining and I need to talk on the phone, I usually try to find somewhere under shelter to do it. Not so much so my phone doesn't get wet..but so I'm not just standing in the rain to start with. if I cant find somewhere dry to talk, I don't need to talk to anyone on the phone THAT badly. I just call/answer it later
Maybe its me and my old age, I managed to get along just fine before cell phones, and answering machines...if I wasn't home, call back later. if they wasn't home I called back.
If i needed to talk to someone and wasn't near a phone, or they wasnt home. I just waited, until I could get to them.
So cant think of any situation where i would need/want to be using a phone in the rain. other than an emergency..then my phone getting wet is the least of my worries anyway.
So waterproof isn't a real selling point to me (never even really considered it a 'point' until you pointed it out). Be like someone pushing the fact the TV i'm looking at is waterproof trying to sell it to me ...haha

Oh I do to. OR suppose to..haha
I'm on call a lot, but I still live by my old habits. Unless someone is dying, if I'm not in a place to answer the phone. You get a call back when I am.

I have some galaxy as well, in the winter with cold fingers it no works well. In the summer it no works well the touch display. I rather have a device with a little IR stick, so I don't smear my fingerprints all over the display. Or even better some neural interface, but I am afraid the phone will then be surfing free sex sites 80% of the time.

The lighter weight of the iphone 5 along with the aluminum frame means it is actually quite durable. The heavier iPhone 4/4S design was easier to break on drops, and the glass back didn't help either.
I keep hearing people say they preferred the weight of the 4/4S as they assume weight = more durability. That really isn't the case though. Frankly, less weight is always better assuming the quality of materials doesn't degrade to achieve this goal. Apple could have used plastic and it would have weighed even less, but then you'd have a phone that wasn't much different from most other crap on the market in terms of build quality. I've never been impressed by the build quality of *any* of the available Android phones. The newer Sony ones don't seem bad, but Apple is still miles ahead when it comes to manufacturing. |
I remember a test where they dropped the iPhone4s and a Samsung Galaxy from the same height onto asphalt.
The Samsung had a mark on the edge of the case, the iPhones glass was completely cracked and destroyed. |
The iPhone 5 has vastly improved durability. In drop tests it out-performs the S3. The aluminum frame, reduced weight, and removed glass back means it is very durable.

The S3 was never really sturdy to begin with. For example, I think I saw a while back a Note 2 pitted against an iPhone 5, and the note won. Except for the face-down drop test, where it failed because heh, 5.5 inches screen.

Dat Apple
The Retina bullshit (there's plenty other phones with equal or higher PPI now so fuck that ) and LTE nonsense (only partially supported, iPhone 5 will not work on the Dutch LTE once that's up for example) are obvious. The real people support is a good one too
What really cracks me up is this though: "all thanks to Apple scientists who created unique battery chemistry instead of settling for a large, off-the-shelf option."
That is fucking hilarious hahahaha
It's still a standard Li-Ion battery. It's designed and manufactured by Sony. Where exactly does Apple come in with unique chemistry?
