The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Indeed, I gained 20 fps but you lose some of the highest graphics settings (tressfx, highres shadows, highres DOF...). If you don't use them in DX11, it's definitely a nice tweak to switch the game in DX9.

What if you disable them but not force the game in DX9? Like this:

Theoretically it should still run faster in DX11, I see no reason to force DX9.

About the "can't see a difference tbh" point, well don't expect a wholly different looking game, it's like playing games on consoles, the visuals are the same, just less refined.

I'm surprised hump does not complain about this game. Yeah it's lots of fun but it's also the death of Tomb Raider. I'm just glad I'm not a big TR fan or I'd be raging so hard right now.

I don't really show the rage, but there's a lot of it inside of me. I'm really pissed off for what they've done to one of my favorite games series. I also trusted CD to continue the series in a good way even with a reboot on the horizon, but they didn't. Let's just make Uncharted because everyone likes that crap! Who cares about the fans anyway... so be it then, it doesn't seem like I can do anything about this on my own. I'll just remember the Tomb Raider name for the previous games (that awesome spin-off included! - which by the way, that's what you compare MGR with, Interinactive, not this; I also only said in that thread that it's a MGR game and not an MGS one, nothing more). This is actually the second franchise ruined this year for me, only with DmC it was even worse. Unless I'm bored some time, I won't actually download this at all. Well done, CD, by doing this there's one person less who pirated your stupid game.

Regardless of some bugs and a few unoptimized portions of the game...not sure about the rest of you all but i personally am having a blast with this game. It's one of the best games i've played out of the recent holiday season round of AAA games and some of the latest recent AAA games that have come out.

I get a constant 60fps (higher if i didnt cap it at 60) but once in a great while (while testing various visual settings ingame) i'll come to a weird area where you would think frames would go up but instead dip super low to like mid 30 frames....but those are just unoptimized area's of the game...my PC gear that shows in my sig below...is higher mid-range hardware....i got crysis 3 running damn good now at all very high settings with the only thing tuned down is AA which is at x2msaa...i get high 40's to mid 50s all game long in Crysis 3.....Tomb Raider like i said is a solid 60fps....and i just locked it there so it doest fluctuate all crazy going up into the 100frames per second back down to 60 frames per second...i hate that crap..so if a game is always 60 or above..i'll just lock it at that 60 frames per second and it's all smooth game play

I also use Virtu MVP with all games which utilized both my dedicated videocard and the HD 4000 iGPU in my 3570K...while it does not add a huge amount of frames to my gaming..well in same games it does like in Crysis3 it added 10 frames per second in "some area's where it would dip far less, virtu mvp seems to help in area's where there is a lot of activity going on and frames dip while other times the frames are the same with Virtu mvp or no Virtu mvp on...but the main reason why i use Virtu MVP is that it stops all micro shuddering and prevents frame tearing soooo good. My Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 mobo came with this software free..but it costs money if your mobo does not come bundles with it..they just released Virtu MVP 2.0 as well. Check it out here... http://www.lucidlogix.com/index.html Some say it does not work...well it sure the heck works for me and gives me a performance boost that otherwise would just let my intel i5 3570k's built in iGPU HD 4000 go unused...it definitely works..i found only 2 games out of 40 or so i tried where i had graphic issues using Virtu MVP.

But back to Tomb Raider, I love the gameplay..it works so well in a 3rd person perspective as far as combat, etc goes and the graphics are damn nice..some levels are much more bland or harsh looking compared to other levels but for the most part as a whole..the game looks freaking beautiful running on a high end system. I've played the xbox 360 version as well...while TR looks good running on 8 year old hardware with the console version..the PC version just looks so much better.

Here is another developer that needs props given to them for taking the extra time adding the super high resolution textures and other graphical enhancements with a game that was originally developed for old dated console hardware...sure if the game had been developed exclusively for the PC it would look even better than what we have as it stand....probably a hell of a lot better but for a console2pc port....this game looks VERY NICE running at all highest settings and plays freak'n great!!

The most important thing though..is the fun and atmosphere this game provides...it is a very fun game to play and that is all what counts in my book.

I've already pretty much tossed in the towel on my 360 and ps3...already sold the ps3..i already sold one of my 360s and will be giving my last xbox 360 to the salvation army so some needy poor kid can get some good gaming. Im bringing my 360 in a brown box with all my backups included lol....i did this with my first original xbox when it was time to move on to the next gen consoles...i gave my original xbox to the salvation army with all the games installed on the big harddrive and put instructions in a ziplock bag for which ever kid got the system would understand how to play the xbox without any need for any game discs..because it had a 500GB hdd in it with over a 100 games...

Anyways....Tomb Raider..while not game of the year material...it's up there with the best games with in the last 12 months or so..at least in my opinion.

man so many bugs and issues with this game, even with all the BS I'm still enjoying the game but I might hold on for a few days now till we get some more patches/fixes in.

Also there was an SLI profile update for nvidia users, reportedly fixing crashing issues.

I'm with you guys. And I'm suprised by hump who adore this game but bash everything else that gives "cinematic" experience and have some kind of supersense.
It's fun when you have full control of Lara (but still it's not near classic Tomb Raider game) but a few minutes later I'm thrown into Dragon's Lair. And its story and mood feels more of Far Cry 3 but that is just a coincidence, that story of "man up to the fubar situation".

Tried that but it still runs slower in dx11 maybe its just my hd5970 showing its age dunno btw DX9 mode seems to be bugged on NV cards tried it on a gtx 560 and it seems to disable many post process effects there where they show up fine on AMD cards can anyone confirm that?

That's a bug with Nivida cards on DX11 as well that was reportedly fixed with the pulled patch, so it will likely be sorted when the patch goes live again.

Here is a screenshot comparison I took early in the game with fire all around, just mouse over it to see the missing Windowed effects.

Here are my results (Core i5 2310 + Nvidia GTS 450 + Windows 7 x64). Both of the tests was made with the same settings. I double checked :

DX11

DX9

EDIT : Screenshots (I know it's not the same frame but it's enough to see the little differences)

Hmmm... motion blur seems to be part of the post processing?
Any idea of what else is in there?

Or any way to turn off motion blur only? Neutral

Is it really bothering You THIS much ?

the blur is BARELY noticable with 60fps.

I know You hate blur etc but it really only helps to mask out and smooth quick turns

I never understood this... why would you want to blur our quick turns? There is nothing smooth about it to me - it's just a blurry mess. Things get blurred by quick turns as it is due to the way LCD tech works. Why would I want to add to it? I'd rather have some understanding of my surroundings when I am looking around...

@Mindermast : hint, try to turn your head real fast from left & right, and then you will see motion blur in real life. Then try to wonder why dev put motion blur in their games when you turn the camera real fast.
