I've made it past Shantytown now and yeah there's something dramatic or "big" happening every fifteen minutes or so at this point of the game and there's a horde of enemies just blindly charging in.
It's a bit silly but I take it as a b-grade action story and it's working out OK.
(Then again it gets a bit weird at times, she has accident after accident and somehow things work out or are timed just right, as Consolitis sort-of said a while ago they make you feel like a near invincible bad-ass at times.)

Yeah dat DrepssFX has the hair spasm like crazy. And sing I have nVidia I figured it was spasming on purpose to get me to buy AMD, but nope, that's how it is there too.

Uncharted 3 story is terrible. Tomb Raider story is much better.
If you look into the console section, you can see U3 is the worst of all 3, even though the tech is improved, the story is real shit. The game is still great though, that's for sure.
I'm not sure if I like U3 or TR better, but both games are really great, and I think both can be compared, they are really similar.
Now, I'd love to compare TR to another genre, but I just can't have anything in mind ?
The story in Tomb Raider Underworld was real shit too and a big disappointment (I think the weakest point of the game), trying to be a follow up of Tomb Raider 1 and Tomb Raider Legend, with a zombie mum and what not, was kinda silly.
As much as I loved Tomb Raider Anniversary (my favorite, although the one most people hated somehow), I think Tomb Raider Legend was really a breeze of fresh air somehow. Now after TRA and TRU, it's too much the same again I guess, and people got bored of this TRL/A/U serie.
So now, after playing this reboot, it felt fresh again to me, and that's what I like about it, even though they had to cut content that made the old ones successful. They took a risk, sure, but I'm not sure what I would have done instead of them. I think the Crystal Dynamics guys arent silly and got that discussion around a table already : do we continue to produce TR games that sell 2 M copies after 5 years, or do something else ? I guess they went for something else, and here we are.
Don't worry though, after 3 games like that, people will be bored, and they'll have to find new ideas again. That's always how it is, you can even see this in consolitis selling chart, people got bored after Tomb Raider 3, just like they got bored after Tomb Raider Underworld. The story will repeat over & over...

the 2 worst things i have with the game are:
-Sometimes the game (even on Ultra or Maximum settings with toned down shadows) has this...spiral random FX that takes all over the screen and spins like crazy...
-Game throws me randomly off to the desktop and tells me "NOPE"
Any temporal solution?...something to touch in the game's Windows settings (NOT IN-GAME...) ?

no crashes yet on my pc, 65% of the game. this weekeend im gonna beat it, if my wife and the kid let me stay quiet in the pc.

You didn't but Crystal Dynamics / Eidos doesn't care about the exception, they care about 80% of their buyers.
Tomb Raider Underworld was a failure business wise, and that's also why Eidos fired most of the original staff and asked for another part of Crystal Dynamics to work on the reboot.
Clearly, they did the right decision seeing how many people are praising this one and buying it, compared to TRU back then (and don't think that every people that loved the previous TR will hate this one, I, for instance, loved TRU, and still love this one too...).
And these people are actually also represented by humpers, I don't remember many people here praising TRU, it was almost ignored by this forum, compared to this one... I remember the threads in both the console section & the PC section were quite empty...Too lazy to use the search engine but I'm not even sure it has that many pages as this thread).

Finished it. I'll give it a 7/10.
The yay:
- Looks phenomenal
- Shooting is fun, guns feel good and enemies react to shots nicely
- Good story and good main character, but...
The nay:
- ...gameplay doesn't fit the story's context at all which waters the story and character down
- Exploration is pointless and boring
- Collectables are pointless and boring
- Hunting is pointless and boring
- Too focused on action
- Doesn't manage to build an atmosphere
- Doesn't evoke emotion or challenge intellectually
Enjoyable, but forgettable. Burger-gaming.

Because the majority on this forum can't just accept that others don't think the same way as he/she thinks about that certain subject and he/she can't actually manage to shut the fuck up for once and just has to force his/her view on the other person.

I'm at the Shantytown and still not impressed at all. All three parts of Uncharted worked much better for me. Gameplay mechanics are ok but I don't like the characters and setting.
My favourite Tomb Raider is still Anniversary (I played all parts and finished 1,2, L, A, U, not sure about TLR and AOD).
Also very same opinion about exploration, hunting etc. as ^

Game looks and prerforms great. I don't know what got into me and I went ahead and activated DerpHairFX and holy shit did it lag like a motherfucker I struggled to even go back to the options and turn it off.
