only works if all the settings are down low, ie low texture, no shadows etc
the funny thing I tested this games full ultra settings and compared that to cod bo2 and wow on the highest settings and simcity 5 lags like crazy in high density areas, cod and wow run smoothly on the highest settings during epic battleground battles in av
I'll test out some more high detail games and see if that lags

sadly, yeah. I don't judge anyone, for wanting to buy the game, because they genuinely want to play the game (heck, i want too lol), but buying it WHILST there are these issues , caused by a bad business model, that i don't get |
I also want to play the game, but the thing is, i do NOT want to see this business model succeed. It already has, but i don't want to contribute to it's success. It's basically a f2p game for 60$ and loads of micro transactions and DLC's in the coming future. It has probably cost more than most f2p games, but i do not doubt they kept the cost as low as possible. |
i feel you. You cant believe, how BADLY i want to play this game (and am willing to buy it legit). But under NO circumstances am i willing to spend money for something like this (always on etc). I buy a LOT of games, happily, but i refuse to pay for these kinda practices. There is just nothing good coming from it.
heck, even ubi realized that.
oh and ps : if someone has issues with refunding, i offer you this :
send me your recipe and i will go personally to the EA bureaus here in geneva (i pass there several times a week). And i am certain, i can force them to refund me your game.
Of course you have to trust me, but i think i have a rather good reputation with money here (example being the BF3 servers we had).
Just a suggestion, of course.

Sorry but I waited for a Simcity for so long, and I was so disappointed with all these Ersatz we got instead since SC4.
This game is pure awesomeness, believe it or not.
What I would say is : buy this game if you are a Simcity fan,
but don't put a buck in their too expansive DLCs trap.
The only DLC I may buy in the future for this game is the one which will bring bigger city map. (We can always dream it will be free ^^ )
BTW, servers are up and running fine now.

like i said, my problem isn't with the game. heck, i can actually believe, that the game IS genuinely fun, BUT the business model is simply not worth (and shouldn't be) money spending and shouldn't be supported.

Seriously man..before you get on the computer, try and abstain from the cocaine for at least 24 hours.
the further you get into this, the more moronic you sound.
There is nothing about this that is even remotely close to "pure awesome"
I can't imagine at this point how anyone could doubt you're a plant for EA

Troll how much you want.
This game is Simcity !
If it was cracked already, you may be the only one here to say it is a simple piece of garbage.
I have just to blame EA to have ruined the launch with their online shit politic.
With or without DRM the game would have sold well.

This is an example of what I was previously referring to as instant gratification. This kind of "must have now, I waited so long for this" attitude is usually prevalent in children but disappears as people grow up. It also makes it so much easier for the publishers to continue pushing the anti consumer models to the market. In this particular case, they are releasing a clearly feature inferior game (compared to predecessors) in order to make additional money on DLCs (larger maps, subways..etc). It's pretty obvious most people will have to buy them in order to get the full game experience. Instead of an outcry and punishment by the consumers, we get "this is so awesome, after 7 hours of trying to connect I finally made it and it's so awesome!!! hurr durr"

have you tried it? or you just using 3rd party info to agree with them(im speaking of the game itself here)?
The online DRM, yea crappy, the server problems, yea crappy.
but you are saying the game is pure crap..the game itself is really good. please expand how many hours of gameplay you have put into it to come to this conclusion.
we aren't talking about the server, or the publisher, we ALL agree that those all sucks. But if you look, the majority of the ones here that are playing it agrees. The gameplay itself is great. Its the platform its on that's having issue and is terrible right now.
The more you keep talking about and harping on how horrible the gameplay is, with never touching it, the more bandwagon moronic you sound.
And again, I will agree the online issues its having, and server waits, and downtime is bad..annoying at times, and uncalled for. But the game itself other than map size, cant be faulted.

But what about buildings and such? I bet you get access to 25% of the total buildings available at the end of it's cycle where the rest is available as micro transactions, and surely the same can be said for many things in game. I will not touch it before i know things like this.

Depends, its made by the people that makes the sims.
I can play the sims and not need one bit of its DLC micro transactions crap. None of its game critical.
I'm betting this follows that path. Like the sims, that french designed couch DLC in no way changes the game itself...its all cosmetic. If that's the case, they can make 75% of the buildings skins and models DLC.
the Sims model is expansion pack adds new mechanics, while DLC adds new cosmetics.
And I expect expansion packs, im sure there will be a 'rush hour' type expansion for this like sc4 had.
An expansion pack once a year released, i can handle. look at it, see if its adds something Id like..and decide if its worth it.
If i can enjoy the game that I bought as it is..and have a blast with it. Its not pokemon I don't have to 'buy them all'. just because they offer it.

I don't recall Blizzard giving a free game for the Diablo 3 failure. Good job, EA.

I'm going on the features of the game itself.
Crap city size, which everyone is finally admitting really is a problem, and once you start there, there is no where to go.
Simcity doesn't exist on a postage stamp. spin that anyway you like but it just doesn't happen. I've detailed several other flaws in the game and each time I bring it up, you either play the "I'm too good for this argument" or "now on to something completely unrelated" card.
he can sit there screaming "THIS IS SIMCITY" until he is blue in the face, but it won't make it simcity. It only makes him more the shill.
You know all that server shit IS the game. EA made that happen, always on DRM means the servers are the game. I know it's hard for you to look at this without the company glasses on but the game is flawed across the board. From the basic infrastructure. Even the possibility of maybe someday thinking about considering upping the mapsize won't save it.

Again, have you tried it? you experienced this firsthand? or you biasing your opinion, on other opinions you read?
I was the same mindset when I first downloaded beta and logged in and saw it. going "wtf this isn't going to be fun at all, ill finish filling this area in 45 minutes.."
7 hours later I was still ingame...
So, If you had played it a few hours, decided it was crap to you, then yea. Id agree you can make that call on solid ground.
Otherwise you are just parrotting others opinion of the game out of your mouth. Not what you experienced of it.
IF we wanted their opinions of what their gameplay was like, we can go read it ourselves..we don't need someone that is repeating what they are told(like the EA game is great posters being told to go post)...right?
You make fun of us saying we are repeating what other 3rd party people are saying, while doing this yourself

Battlefield 3 was the last EA game I purchased, and I felt shafted .. I dunno how people enjoy that game , its fucking mindless garbage watered down to appeal to masses of sheep , it has no battlefield soul. Its more like CODfield
Watered down as fuck... small ass maps, gameplay elements stripped and then they have the nerve to offer bigger maps and different game modes as dlcs and as a 'premium' package...That's when I said FUCK YOU EA. I ain't buying your shit anymore.
Look at what they did to Crysis, Dead Space is dead, Medal of honor gone and now SimCity
Fuck them!

In order to try it first hand, I'd have to financially support it. Do you really see me doing that?
People can make an informed decision and form their own opinions. They can read about the features in the game and decide how they feel about them. And how I feel about them is that they suck. That is how the entire review industry works and how an educated person makes choices. There are some things which may need a hands on approach to decide if you like it. This isn't one of them.
I don't have to pick shit up off the sidewalk and chow down to know it's going to taste like shit.
Your arguments are extremely weak sauce. You've hit all the high points in the "I really don't have a leg to stand on so I'm going to try all these other tactics"
Any time the actually features of the game are brought up, it's the same endless deflection with you.

Yes yes..hello pot, I am kettle!
Again if you dont like it..good for you.
But QUIT insulting people that do. its just makes you look like a self centered, unsure twat.
well maybe you are..but quit pointing it out to us then
I mean, really...again what do you expect to achieve by telling people that like it, yo quit liking it? What is your point you are making...other than "I personally don't like the game" we got that, you hate it, you really really, with ever fiber of your insecure being hate.
What else is there to do? other than insult those that do? and what good does that do? other than make you feel smug for not liking it?
As I said before, I still challenge you to tell us what your point is of CONSTANTLY telling us how much you dislike it...are you unsure if we get that point?

You dont build anything like that(other than the casino ones..but they are hotels so much, as 'keep people in the casino longer addons)..you zone commercial. if hotels is in demand for that area they grow.

Yes. I bought it. Haven't had a single technical issue so far (apart from one time not being able to claim a city a few times). I hope it stays that way. As for the game - it's awesome. Love it so far. Sank my teeth in it for a good 6 magnificent hours yesterday and today.
