PC Gamer keys are stated as "Other Betas" in the roadmap, so it's possible. Weekend 1 was only for paying customers.

This is the weekend beta key + horse BTW.

They did the same thing with Star Trek Online where the lifetime subscribers got the Liberated Borg race. I hope this game ends up being kind of like Trek where it's easy to earn the ingame currency that will convert to Zen to buy the paid items from the Cash shop.

Also don't forget to turn off on demand patching after you've downloaded and installed ..

because if it's on when you click patch it will only update "essential" files say about 60 MB or so

however if you patch with it off ... it will download about 2GB worth ...apparently the on-demand bit will only update when you load into new area's in the game ( places your toon has not been to before)

Weird patching method decision.. unless they are planning on some kind of "live" server patching
instead of taking the servers off-line for patch updates... who knows....

Not only that. Star trek online has top tier ships which are marginally better than the last ships you receive when leveling up which you have to pay for. I reached max level just to find that out, and i quit right then and there. Such a shame, game is quite fun.

Question to people with PC Gamer keys: how big is your Nwn folder? Mine is only 2.9GB and I see no option to patch it when I run the launcher and log in - just got two servers for Champions Online and STO... Sad

Mine is 3.59GB. There have been 2 patches since my initial download a few days ago as I was starting up the launcher just to make sure I was fully patched before the beta started.

Game is a shallow piece of shit with horrible animations. It's pure fastfood instant gratification crap and action-action-action over-the-top combat.

Character development system has all the depth of a dried-out puddle.

The one interesting thing is the foundry - but I'm not going to be playing.

Well, to be fair - if you like Cryptic and their past 2-3 MMOs - you might like this one as well.

If you expect it to be something other than a typical Cryptic MMO - you'll be disappointed.

Not that there is something wrong with their mmos for me. I think that they NWM is combining some of the best aspects of them both, like the foundry.

Yeah, the game is mostly action oriented, but atleast it feels more dynamic with it's combat system whencompared to tons of the games out there.

The skills are unlocked on a given level and you must choose which one to bring with you. There are some stats points and feats too, i don't mind it. So far the beta is limited as there is only one advancement option per class , and there are yet to include the archer class.

I think that's one of the few games in which finally playing a healing class is fun for me - devoted cleric feels great to solo.

To each his own Smile

Personally, I think it might be a mildly entertaining cooperative game - but then again, DDO would be a hundred times better for that - even considering its age.

But as a meaty MMO meant to last for a long while? Not for me.

Played this for a few hours yesterday and today and so far im having fun. The Foundry is a nice feature and there are a some player made missions already.
It seems to be a totally linear instanced dungeon romp trough atleast as far as i played so far (lvl 10) and many will probably dislike that.
The action combat paired with the 4e character development works very well, the 4e rules always felt a lot like they where made for an mmo to me anyway.

My take after two days...

Good:

- Novel combat system that keeps you engaged by aiming, dodging, and triggering cool-down abilities.

-Lots of well written lore scattered about to find and read.

-Nice music (especially the city theme).

-Decent voice work (at least what's implemented).

-Solability (always a plus in my book - I know it's an MMO, but I hate relying on groups to do things).

-User created and written missions. I haven't tried one myself, but this is a superb idea that I'm all for. Going to have to dive into this soon.

-Traps, hidden loot caches, and secondary hallways in dungeons.

Bad:
-No DnD character generation. Faith and Background have absolutely no impact on the game whatsoever.

-Typical WoW feat point bullshit.

-The novel combat system degenerates to everyone mindlessly mashing when in a group dungeon.

-Micro transactioned to hell and back. Bags, mounts, companions, character slots, companion slots, potions, dyes, currency - basically EVERYTHING except being able to play the classes/story. Not cheap microtransactions either. Some of the mounts/companions cost as much as a full game.

-Generic and dull quests that have been the norm for the past 12 years.

-The game itself seems like a completely linear experience aside from the user generated missions. After a while it's just the same old shit over and over. It becomes kind of soulless and generic, typical of Cryptic's MMOs.

-The worst community I've seen since having the misfortune of delving into since WoW on it's release. Simply total asshattery. Though this isn't surprising, it'll only get much worse upon release. Free-to-Play titles attract some of the most atrocious fucking people on this planet.

-End game seems to be the same mindless fucking token grinding to get tiers of gear that WoW introduced and everyone has used since. No thank you.

While I enjoy the combat and lore, overall it's an extremely generic and cheap cash-in, with a general chat that's liable to make you lose faith in humanity by simply glancing at it. I'll play it upon release for a week till I burn through the content - as far as spending a dime? Fuck no.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

lol it's perfect world, what did you guys expect from them with their "micro"transactions.
They have ALWAYS been so fucking greedy and gave those that bought shit an advantage over others...
Man, last game of theirs i played was "Battle of the Immortals", they even sold, in beta, items that didn't work ingame. Took me 6 months to get a refund and they finally removed that very item..

I had no real expectations, they died about a year ago.

I'm not a fan of the new d&d rules, ugly character models and I just did not get a d&d feeling at all.

Probably not my kind of game, too flashy and action oriented. But I'm gonna give it more than an hour before I come to any kind of conclusion.

Its a d&d game after all, and I very much want to like it.

Well i have to say after playing it a little longer today it gets boring really fast and its inferior to Tera or even Vindictus in every possible way as an f2p MMO with action combat.
I really hoped we would be able to test the foundry after seeing some player made modules allrdy but it wasnt ready for the beta or so they say.
