Ah, well... as expected I suppose.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

What is it with these damn game-developers and filling every room with enemy soldiers? That does not (in my mind) convey fear, it conveys frustration.
Fear is about suspension, and the unexpected.
"Ooo! Corridor goes black all of a sudden", well ... since this has been used, re-used, recycled, recycled again ... this isn't unexpected at all.
Also... little children that laugh and leave footsteps (ie. in the ceiling) are scary? Since when? It wasn't scary in "The Ring", "Dark Waters", "The Eye", and it isn't scary now either.
I expected that a game would be less about shooting at everything that moves, and more about story/suspension/immersion... I think Deus Ex managed to do this, without clogging every room with someone (or some thing) that wants to be shot dead [since computer A.I and realism, really can't create a believable enemy as of yet].
But if your expectations are the standard "Hollywood scary movie, with flashy effects and action", I'm sure you'll get just what you expected.
Plot twists? Haha... I can almost guess them already... in the end, you'll probably realize you're supernatural, and the FEAR-team will be after you instead.
edit: Either my expectations are too high, or everyone elses are too low ... no matter the case, my point still stands, my expectations weren't met.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

1. Every one has a different sense of fear... The demo scareed the hell out of me...
2. Deus ex wasn't an action game... It was adventure/action/rpg... and it wasn't scary at alll
3. Abou the plot twists... I don't reallyt care if the game is fun... I you want a great story with twists play some adventure game... Although even they are quite easy to guess...
4. It's hard to invent something tha has been already invented... It harder to make a really unique game now, cause it's no like the game market is two years old...

Great idea for a new shooter! You would just be walking through corridor after corridor! Now THAT is scary!

See, i'm not exactly sure what Fisk was expecting. For the developers to try to scare you in every room?
It's a FPS, since FEAR was first hyped a major aspect was the gun combat. Only part of the game is about trying to scare the player. Maybe if you expectations actually conformed to reality you wouldn't be so disappointed Fisk.

...only towelie couldn't understand that there are different levels of action other than "just walking through corridor after corridor" and "enemies attacking everywhere, from everywhere".
Animal_Mother: You're not exactly sure,
just end it there, and stop it with the inane driveling.
What I'm saying, and what you failed to comprehend (despite english being your first language, and my second) is that this game fails to deliver the unexpected, and create suspension. Much the same why Doom3 failed.
Oh, by the way - if the developers wanted to hype the "gun combat", well then again they failed. But really, they didn't. Just look at the god damned title for fucks sake!

Could someone please tell me if a group has release F.E.A.R yet? When I look upon Nforce for it's release it shows no group has released it yet. Yet I see this long thread on F.E.A.R. How are you guys playing the full copy of fear when it is not released???

Yeah I keep forgetting that you've played through the full game.
It's pretty difficult to create suspense in such a short segment of gameplay, another of your unrealistic expectations I guess.
As for the gun combat being hyped, obviously you've never watched any of the videos then, because thats the general focus. As for the name of the game, well if you judge the content of a game by it's name then you're more idiotic then I thought. Did you expect Half-life to be about science? Guess you were disappointed then too.

I am currently at work so I can't tell u the map names, but they are definetly completely different than the original demo. I had to do a complete new install for the new key. The level I played is actually using the part of the singleplayer demo where you just exited the car. That whole outside area is a part of the new map. I actually like the new ones much better than the original ones ...
fuck ...
