Fo sho. The 360 was far more powerful in relation to PC's of the time than the PS4 is now, but it's superiority only lasted about a year until the 8800GTX came out and ran the horribly optimized multiplatform titles better.

Right, except nothing about PS4 is exceptional when it comes to hardware and can be bought now for any PC.

yep total bullshit and idd it's a crippled 8 core pos would be better if they had gone for a proper 4 core and make games to run on all four cores oh wait they can't bloody do dual cores properly in most games <.<

If it's revealed that the derpboxNEXT also has 8GB GDDR5, THEN I'll start to worry about developers hurrdurring and fucking up PC ports due to the lower memory bandwidth.

False, PCMark04 gives me better results if I overclock my RAMZ

I have the bad sensation that it will regularly happen anyway, regardless of the power of the next box . Because lazy ports are a burden that we have to carry for the rest of our lives..otherwise computer hardware companies would go bankrupt  |

Also, will these magical 8GB DDR5 :
- Boost the CPU core speed?
- Add extra cores to the CPU?
- Boost the GPU core speed?
- Increase the GPU memory(well, in a way... yes  )?
- Increase the GPU's shader count?
- Increase the HDD's read speed(unless they're planning to use them as a sort of ramdisk)?
If so, I'm in

The worst thing is, he may be right, to an extent. PS4, as unit, is an IDENTICAL hardware, across EVERY SINGLE platform. So optimizing a game for something like that, and pulling out the maximum, is very easy compared to doing it for PC, where every unit is different hardware wise. Because, if the ports made for PC are shit, not even 5 times stronger hardware will help. So he is right in one thing, the PS4 will be better if they keep making shitty ports, but in terms of just hardware power, it will NEVER be better than PC.

All depends on what they are comparing it to. If they consider the "average" PC to be something like an i3 with integrated graphics, they might have a point. But obviously the average gaming PC rig is a tad more powerful.

well i dont get the problem... they say MOST pc's... MOST pc's on the planet are old bangers.
sure any serious pc gamer will have a pretty solid rig, but those are well above the specs of MOST pcs on the planet.
so they're RIGHT, really... its just a worthless comparison, because those "MOST" pc's that theyre talking about, arent used for serious or moderate/high-end gaming.

And the AMD CPU isn't a performance CPU, it's an updated variant of the Brazos 2.0, a low power mobile APU.
The 7950 at stock speed of 800MHz has 2.87 teraflops.
PS4: The graphics processing unit (GPU) consists of 18 compute units to produce a theoretical peak performance of 1.84 TFLOP/s.
The PS4 is worse than a fairly mid-range gaming PC in every single instance than it's 8GB GDDR5 unified RAM pool. They have that, and can optimize specifically for a single set of hardware. But any modern gaming PC is already way beyond that, esp. when it comes to CPU & GPU.
Oh well...
Now lets wait for MS announcement.

Many people are playing simple puzzle games and crap on their cheap laptops, affecting the scores. I don't count Steam Hardware Survey as anything to count on. But on the other hand the majority of PC owners in the world aren't hardcore gamers shelling out $300+ for CPU and GPU and have 8+ GB RAM. Yet...

You can't exclude them because you don't like the games they play. Not that if you would exclude them much would change, anyway. The most played games on Steam are always the "hardcore" games (not necessarily the most demanding but games that aren't for casual players like 2D puzzles etc, so games that would attract a potential PS4 buyer).
