Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it.
Cause they can tell me candy grows on the moon for all I care at this point regarding the price.

Nonono there's no chance, no chance at all that sony won't suddenly pull a "sorry guise, 8gb DDR5 per unit is expensive and... um... er... it is $599, TA-DAA!" very near the launch.
They're not known for dum lies like the PSN hack, their awesome rootkits ("rootkits? wut? we don't use no stinkin' rootkits!"), and countless other bullshit.
Just like any other major corporation, really.

Who cares about the price anyway, it's not that we're going to taint our immaculate pedigree becoming dorito couch gamers, right?

Maybe someone already made this point...
When they say "will out perform most pc's...." yeah maybe, because the general consumer has what? A dell/HP/compaq from a few years ago.... Used for internet, e-mail & youtube vids....sure. Those pc's fucking suck anyway, they got phones faster than some pc's these days. So in that regard... ya ps4 might be faster than most PC's given that most PC's aren't like the ones we have here.

Personally, I cannot wait for the next generation of consoles.
New games will come out, and PC gamers will get the 360/PS3 scaled down versions, because the developers will be afraid we can't handle the games......
Then a year later, we'll get the same ports, and prove that we can handle them, and handle them better.
Be prepared for 360 ports of 720 games......it's inevitable

Nvidia: PS4 snub “clearly not a technology thing”, consoles an “opportunity cost”
The PlayStation 4 uses AMD tech, and Microsoft’s upcoming console is heavily rumoured to do the same, but rival Nvidia doesn’t care, saying next-gen consoles aren’t worth the company’s time.

You're wrong there.
The discrete and notebook GPU market is not a very profitable one just for starters. The console market on the other hand practically guarantees selling more chips within that first year for just *one* of the consoles than you would in the entire GPU market otherwise. You do that with higher margins as well, since there is less competition; once you have the design win, you have it. No bundling of other products such as games, no marketing necessary, a lot less driver debugging and so on.
So for Nvidia to say it's not a big thing is nonsense. Given AMD's (likely) double APU win that means a given 70m units sold in the first year across the two consoles, for their CPU department. The GPU department is healthier than ever, so all of it is very good for AMD.
No, the ones who'll be losing money on it are Sony and MS again most likely. Nvidia and AMD certainly did not lose money on the PS360 RSX/Xenos during the first years. Maybe in the past couple of years, with console shipments down it would've cost them, but I even doubt that as they had the necessary time scheduled at TSMC anyway.
What one should read in Nvidia's statement is either that Sony was unwilling to pay the margin Nvidia asked on their production costs (Kepler is still a little troublesome to fab) or that Nvidia wanted to push Tegra, which Sony wouldn't have paid much for obviously (aside from it being a shit choice). AMD will have had a better offer from Sony because they can deliver the whole package. Nvidia just can't do that, unless Sony were to drop down to ARM and a GPU that doesn't even support all of OpenGL ES. Because that's the thing: Nvidia does not have a design that can do it all. They would've had to design something from scratch, since Tegra is pretty crap in reality (like I said, doesn't even fully support everything in OpenGL ES). Fine for phones, but not for 50" displays with lots of bells and whistles. AMD meanwhile just had it all already.
Plus, in this case there's the huge marketing opportunity. The PS360 were good, but this time around the console market has grown even bigger and has gone even more mainstream. A lot of derp people will now see a laptop with AMD in it and go "HEY MY PS4 HAS THAT, AWESOME".

In nvidia's defense, they beat ati in heaps in sales. So for them its really not a big thing. For ati, its survival (keep in mind, they have to pretty much drag amd along hehe). |
"AMD sold 25.43 million, leaving it with 21.2%. That leaves NVIDIA with 22.25 million, or 18.5%"
Not really (Q4 2012).
PC: Yes. Console: No.

Yeah they will
You're underestimating just how many and what kind of people watched the Sony event. AMD and Sony will market AMD's presence.

I'm talking about the PS4, not the PS360. Read what I wrote please, consoles have gone *much* more mainstream and there was a lot more attention for Sony's event this time around. I have an uncle who only has a 360 and crappy laptop and he watched it (well parts of it, after it happened). He doesn't even know the difference between memory and storage, but he knows he's got "the" Intel in his laptop with "the" Nvidia. And he now knows the PS4 is an AMD machine.

That's AMD as a whole, I said the GPU department is healthier than ever. The GPU department is the only part that's making money. Read before you reply.
And it's not "this quarter so far", it's last *financial* quarter (which is not Oct-Dec,Jan-Mar etc).

anyway's, good thing that nvidia is out...this way they will produce new gpu line for the pc faster and the ps4 will not out power most pc's for long time
the bottom line is that lines like this:"PS4 will out-power most PCs for years to come" works for the marketing system even if it is not true, people falling for this shit evry time, they don't think about the machine itself, they are thinking of the comparison and they want to be of course at the "winner" side, but it is more like weiner side.
