Apparently, if you bought SimCity from amazon and used the amazon customer support for anything whether you got a refund or not, you risk your game getting deactivated because EA is passing all those complaints from Amazon on as charge backs whether they are or not.

Nahhhh

I am just actually enjoying the game.
There are bugs and servers sucks but still the game please me.
I still feel bad and ashamed to have bought a game on Origin.

But hell, Simcity really worth the 30 bucks I spent on it.
Deluxe version should have been 49$ though.

Confused Confused read the article
Quote:
The only thing missing is saving to local hard drive – but let’s be real, the code for saving your city already exists, I can’t imagine even that would take more than an hour to put into the client (and it probably already exists in the client for development builds), plus a little bit of time for the UI elements for Save/Load.”

“For an offline mode,” he continues, “instead of asking EA servers how much power is available from a fellow city in the region, it will simply have it in memory, as a small handful of values from another city. No live calculations done on them. Just raw values, all the EA servers send anyway. And as you’ll only be playing/simulating one city at a time in offline mode (cities you don’t play are “frozen in time”) – those values of how much spare power, resources, etc. other cities have won’t even need updating, until you change cities.”

But that's probably just a matter of seconds, just figure out the calls that save the city and the calls load it and you are done.

i think its a bit more complex then that Smile Someone would actually have to read a whole lot of code, to simulate a offline saving feature. And thats not as a little task as it looks Smile

It should be easy. What you have locally is a state of the game that gets uploaded to EA's server. Just figure out the data what's send and you are pretty much done. Every packet always has identifiers in it to notify the server about the type of item send. Simply store it and find out what is send back and see if it matches (and it should). Then it's just a matter of collection all the packages and sending them back. Really, it shouldn't take that much time.

From what I've read, I don't think it's a local state, but just a list of commands that are cached locally until connection to the server is made. The server runs these commands to bring your city's state up to date on the server.

When Have I said nothing is EA's fault? I've not once praised EA in my posts, or defend them, or even say anything people was saying about them was wrong.
I could less whos publishing a game. If something is wrong with it you dislike..flame the hell out of them I wont judge you for it.
I never said that the things people don't like about it isn't EAs fault for pushing it, and maxis for doing it, Just they aren't a 'regret buying it' for me.
Hell no where have I ever praised maxis either...
I don't think I've ever had any kind of loyalty or hate for a publisher or developer. Expectations based on other games yes. but never said that any specific publisher or game maker was a favorite brand and they can do no wrong, I don't think I've done that in my 2000+ posts.

For me its simply, "Do I enjoy playing it? yes", and "Do others think its horrible? yes".
But I could care less if you guys went to EA and skullfucked every chairman. I just wouldn't be joining you, but not out of loyalty to them..just out of no personal reason to do so.

I guess it's because some kind of rudimentary emulator is needed anyway to fool the game, with all those raw values from the EA servers that need to be collected (since there are no live calculations like he said). Maybe it's not super-easy, but not that hard either.

That Azzer dude should send some PMs to the scene Very Happy
