Glad to hear that M&M franchise is getting some love Shame that Wizardry fans (myself included) have zero chance to get another, proper game from the series. Wizardy VIII is next to BG2 my favourite RPG ever and it pains me greatly that the rights to this brand has some shitty, asian publisher. Fucking joke.

I know it's not Wizardry (and honestly I can't remember playing one of the games except the "shitty, asian" published ones - which I found to be ok) but I've heard good things about the Etrian Odyssey series and at least the first three are on the DS so there's always the possibility of emulation.

Aye, Wiz8 was a fantastic game. It still saddens me that the Wizardry series got a final chapter on par with the older ones quality-wise, whereas the M&M series got... that thing.

And because this is a Might and Magic RPG thread and we have so many Wizardry 8 fans here, let's remember one of the best member of the both communities: flamestryke.
Many of you probably used her site for walkthroughs, tips, hints, maps and such,a site salvaged by a member of the M&M community, as flame isn't alive anymore (around two years since her passing):
To clear up recent speculation, Children of the Void has no professional involvement with Ubisoft. The conference last week was a courtesy call and was not recorded.

Damn was hoping CotV would be involved with the M&M X announcement at East Pax.
Finally we have more information regarding Might and Magic X - Legacy, and going by the video above they are going back to what made Might and Magic great. Epic dungeon crawling in a first person view point but no this isn't Heroes, with it's top down view. We have mentioned before the earlier teaser and what might be shown at Pax, so it's great to see hints of what might come our way. Although as it's published by Ubisoft, I do have my concerns of hardline DRM and online connections, so let's hope the developers Limbic Entertainment really push out a great title.
Today, Ubisoft announced Might & Magic® X Legacy, just in time to showcase the game at PAX East. Developed by Limbic Entertainment, a team of devoted Might & Magic fans, Might & Magic® X Legacy brings a new chapter to the Might & Magic RPG series, with both the unique core formula and a new set of improved and fine-tuned features.
In the wake of the spectacular events in Might & Magic® Heroes® VI, you will play in a party of four adventurers entangled in intrigue and political machinations unfolding in and around Karthal. The city, on the verge of secession, is prey to competing factions vying for its control. Your actions will determine the fate of the city. Might & Magic X Legacy is an authentic solo experience in the classic first-person RPG genre. Create and lead your group into an exciting world and battle powerful mythical creatures while collecting ancient magical treasures. Through a turn-based gameplay system, defeat creatures and bosses to accomplish unique quests and make your way through dangerous dungeons, cities and labyrinths full of traps. Dive into vintage Might & Magic and play old school, new rules!

The video looks awesome, but there must be a catch, ubisoft can't deliver a true pc game.
They will fuck it up somehow, most likely by persistent online drm (why else would ubisoft suddenly be interested in a game like this)

Wonder what that voice was, can't quite make out what it says, probably the science-fiction side of the series making a return.
(Looks like it's the HOMM VI engine up close as well but maybe it's just very similar.)
EDIT: Legacy of the oh what were they called again, VARN was the world was it not?
EDIT: Ancients, kinda figures it would be something like that.
(Or Corak but that seems to have been more of a entity.)

Different developer according to IRN, however Ubisoft as you said..
Through the Might & Magic traditional and acclaimed first-person turn-based gameplay system, lead your team of four Heroes in their journey! Choose your gender among four different races: Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, the choice is yours! Each race also boasts three unique classes, each one having their own skills and abilities. Defeat creatures and unique bosses, fulfill challenging quests, level up your group, and earn new powerful artifacts.
I'm fucking stoked!!! The most important fact: it's turn-based!
First: OOH YEEAAH!!!! OLD SKOOL+LEGACY=must buy!! But Somehow they will make it always online drm and Im not fond of supporting such drm.....but.....we old skool rpg players have no choice T_T If we dont support this game I dont know how many 10 years we will wait for another rpg game to come out=(
Please dont fuck it up ubisoft with the drm>_<!!!! And while I have great hope I think they will simplify the character customization, like bodybuilding, item identification, perception. Something like when you level up you get a point to put into a skill instead of finding the right person and have him teach you the next advancement.
Even so....I will just swallow it if the game can give me the adventure/exploration feel back I had with the older games. But they dont call it legacy for nothing I guess, so lets hope=D

Yep they are back.
BTW on the official site there is a slider on top. You can change the theme of the site to any of the older M&M game. Kinda funny.

Speculation time! So the camera moves like grimrock making it another retrodungeon crawler, and the onscreen navigation buttons prolly imply it working on mobile. There goes my hopes for free movement :[
If i remeber correctly MM9 had free movement - but in combat it was turnbased , previous ones were completely turnbased.
But am really not sure - i was 12 years old when i played MM6-8
Well M&M games older than 6 also had these movement buttons so it really is old skool. Yea kinda like Grimrock. But I prefer more freedom like 6 and newer.
I also see an item quickbar at the bottom. I think every char has his own quickbar as I also see magic spells bound to it.

MM6-8 have realtime and turn based combat. You could switch between them. In 6 you couldn't move in turn based combat.
The movement in MMX looks more like the Xeen series.

M6-M8 had not only free movement but also expansive outside world (they weren't dungeon crawler only). If I remember correctly these were some of few rpgs (other being Morrowind) in which you could gain power to fly across the zone for infinite time. Oh, and zone wide aoe (Armageddon). These required some effort to get but once you got them you really felt badass. Good times.
Interesting. It looks like it will get back to its roots. I hope it won't be short.
That video caught me unprepared. I was expecting an action-something with explosions and QTEs and instead they're developing a proper game. What the hell Ubi, I can't recognize you anymore
