I really am not liking that art style at all. Looks terrible, IMO.

Raccoon, your avatar, however, is quite stunning. I spent most of my time staring at her Very Happy

Me neither. Way too cartoonish for my taste. Embarassed

Hahaha. Thanks, I guess. Very Happy Her gaze is definitely kinda... hypnotizing. Smile

tried to give sacred 2 a proper try, but it simply runs like crap. I get 20ish fps, no matter what settings i use. This is with sacred 2 + fire and ice + 2.65.2 patch and crack.

edit :

and we have a winner ... its AGAIN lucidlogic mvp crap application, that does more harm then good in yet another game ...

Thats it, uninstalling that malware of a program (without it, i get constant 60 fps with max settings, hd textures and physx on).

Fucking bs that lucidlogix mvp crap.

Make sure PhysX is disabled and don't use AA, should run OK then and still be fairly stable.

It might have issues with newer OS's as well, Win7 and 8 aren't properly supported but it should at least run on both, Hi-res textures just make the game too unstable though the visual increase is also usually quite subtle so you don't miss much by disabling it.

have you tried the 4gb patch for the game Sin? lil program that enable 4 gigs of ram for whatever exe your using. I noticed an improvement when I used it some time ago... Still use it when I play, and I am using elite textures. Areas take a few seconds to load in, but after that it's ok. Even the busier places. But yeah, the loading into places kinda sucks still.. Razz

Heh, interesting.
(Biggest Codec problem I had was with FFDShow being utilized in some programs where it should not be but since one can whitelist and blacklist apps and set it so only whitelisted content runs it was fairly easy to fix.)

EDIT: Read it as MPC lucidlogic, seems I was a bit wrong. Very Happy

EDIT: Yeah I'd avoid those optimization programs.

Its just a load of bs and nothing else Smile

I've been playing this for the past few days. Runs great in W7/64 w/GTX680. As suggested I'm not using the built-in AA but an SMAA injector. But so far the game is completely stable and performance is perfect without even enabling any compatibility mode. I'm pleasantly surprised by the game. The dungeons are nice. Have yet to get to the human lands which it was said are better than the starting area.

Yes unfortunately the Virtu-MVP stuff doesn't help any game as far as I know. Would love to use the on-die GPU on my i7 3770.

Lets hope Sacred 3 is a worthy successor!

What is smaa injector and all these kind of things you talk about?

And whats the difference between a singleplayer and a multiplayer character? I started one on singleplayer, then played some lan with him, but no quest got saved?

ya know I"ll say it again, for a game that is as old as this is, it's still holds up well. The loot system is nuts, lol 700+ quests, enormous fucking map. Tons of characters, a good side and bad side campaign, Long story, replaybility out the ass, crafting, on and on. Great fucking game really. doubt we'll ever see a game as big in scope arpg hack/slash wise as this one was. The number of hours I've put into this one is the most of all the other games combined in this genre, lol.

It's a wrapper (?) that can add several pixel shader post-processing effects to your D3D application. After copying a few files to exe directory, you can add antialiasing, sharpen the image, alter hue and saturation, enhance bloom, etc...

What I enjoy maybe the most with this hack and slash, is the HUGE OPEN world. Sure it has some instances - mostly dungeons. But the main world is huuuuge and none instanced. You get a better rpg feel and a better immersion.

I'm only sad it took me so many years to try it. I liked sacred 1 a lot, no idea why I waited so long for sacred 2.

So I can enhanced the sacred 2 graphics ?

nah it's the zones loading in, at least as I understand it. When entering a town for instance, when the stuttering happens, I just rotate the camera around for a few seconds, and the "area" loads in. Annoying yes, game breaking, no.

And Release Date:

United States: November 11, 2008

Yes it is a rather old ass game at this point. Some games age better than others.

thats sweetFX. smaa injector is only SMAA, and one part of SweetFX.

It should be Sacred 2 + Ice & Blood with the 2.64.1 patch if I remember correctly, maybe 2.64.2
(.2 fixed a single issue with the player chat which I think only affected closed multiplayer and that's unavailable now so it's not much of a issue.)

There's also a unofficial patch project but it's going rather slow last I checked, currently it restores some content like the x-mas isle and introduces some new items (like the lich-king set from a mod for TES4: Oblivion, with permission.) so it's not just bugfixes or balance changes.

Oh and I believe the gold version is DRM free.
(I had Sacred 2 and Ice & Blood on Gamersgate and now I also have the Gold version but it does not come with a activation key so it must lack copy protection.)

EDIT: Oh and the game can be a real hassle on Vista, W7 and W8 x64 due to problematic memory management, Ascaron never truly fixed it before they went under though Ice & Blood / 2.50.x solved it partially.
(And the gold edition does not contain the "Elite Texture Pack" since it's too unstable and probably also too big at 9 GB or so.)

(Bit of a downside with the texture data in this game, there's a archive with all the low resolution textures then a archive with all normal resolution textures and finally a archive with all the high resolution textures - everything is packed in normal .zip archives, keeps things neat at least instead of 100.000 or so lose files, should have just had the elite pack as the default for PC and scaled them down via mip-map reduction or how that works to lower resolution without needing 3x the amount of texture files.)
