what plays a .mkv file? I have try-ed almost everything.

klmcodec103 with bsplayer fixed it.

It's a matroska video file. You can convert it back to .avi with VirtualDub.

Recommended player for MKV files is The Core Media Player.

I suggest everybody just gets VLC player. I think it plays video without having to install endless amounts of codecs. It handled divx when I didnt even install the codec, and alsk MKV. www.videolan.org/vlc
