Just got this from g2play for 30 bucks. Neon and Sabin told me to try it and they both generally have the same taste in games as I do and so far I'm loving it. The atmosphere and sound work AND visuals really draw you in.

Mine too but that's only because we're early in the year. I don't think it will keep that status for even a month though Razz

I'm pretty sure the key just gets deactivated if anything were to happen, Valve doesn't ban entire accounts for something like that.

What key? He's talking about buying from Russian Steam Store, presumably by using a VPN...which is against the ToS

Ah I was wrong then. Smile

(I thought he meant a key store, should have read the post better, but if it's Steam directly that could be a problem, gifting could work however unless there's regional restrictions with game localization or such.)

You can't buy it as a gift in RU store, you have to use a vpn on your main account.

Quote:
"It's about balancing the needs of gameplay with the needs of narrative. The needs of narrative don't always trump the needs of gameplay," Pratchett explained. "In fact, it's usually the other way around. And so I'd say from a narrative perspective, we would have liked the ramp-up to be a bit slower.

"But, you know, there are other factors to be considered! When players get a gun, they generally want to use the gun. We were brave in going such a long time without giving players a gun in a game where you end up doing a lot of shooting. We tried to innovate a little bit, but narrative can't always win. Ideally if you can find a sweet spot, that's great. But sometimes combat, or gameplay or whatever, has to win out."

A writer speaking in response to people not being satisfied with the amount of combat and killed enemies, while attempting to humanize the character.

Which is pretty much my reason why I didn't mind Lara becoming Rambo and I said it when I posted here earlier. Yes it doesn't fit with the story, but those gameplay elements are fun and break up the puzzle and exploration parts nicely, so I'm willing to forgive them for it.

breaks up the puzzle? Laughing what puzzle part? And exploration is something you do at your own leisure seeing as the game in reality is a linear stream of events and the game shows you exactly where to continue on and a big area doesn't mean anything as long as continuing the story is your focus.

Try playing without hitting the Q button. Exploration works just fine then and the puzzles that are there are more puzzle like.

Did not use the instinct button. A few puzzles had me thinking. 2 or 3, but that was it. Rest was piss easy.

Continuing the story was not my main focus, I liked exploration.

There were plenty of puzzles, and places where it took me multiple tries to get right, especially those damn timing puzzles.

What has linearity to with anything that I wrote anyway? I'm sorry this game wasn't an open world sandbox title with multiple branching storylines like the other tomb raiders (*sarcasm*). Laughing

i am sorry but all the previous tomb raider games except for tr1 were shit and today even the first one is unplayable because the gameplay aged as horribly as it could.
i bought tr1 right when it came out and enjoyed it for its ambition, but the controls were always shit, and the following games were pure repetition.

its typical, games d, e and f of a series come out, everyone complains because its more of the same, purely repetitive.
then game x, the reboot, comes out and changes/mixes things up - everyone who complained before now complains again how game x is not like games d, e and f

Innovation and mixing things up =/= turning yet another series into a linear rambo shooter.

What's next, turning strategy games into shooters? Just because COD sells millions of copies?

Completely opposite for me. POP1 sucks(2 and 3 are great) and this TR is great.
