My question mark was towards there being 10 additional GB's of Hi-Res textures at launch. Has such a thing been confirmed?

human_steel wrote: | My question mark was towards there being 10 additional GB's of Hi-Res textures at launch. Has such a thing been confirmed? | official source writes there are two installs 20 gig and 30 gig
1 + 1 adds to higher pc stuff , on xbox this game is 6,8 gig big [1,6 gig are Bink Movies in 720p , 2 gigs are the Voice files that are ENG/FR/ITA/SP/GER , 3,2 gig are map files]... so even 20gig are WOW for a Single Player only game BUT 30 gig .. 10 gig extra ??? tessellation files ???, knowing that Ue3,5 maps are crappy big ... i can assume some hidden files
so knowing that BINK are SHIT in compressing department and are only used for multimedia prting compatibility... add 3x to movies and sound , both of those are bink compressed and 5x to map files knowing how UE 3,5 works and you get :
Code: | 4,8 gigs movies
6 gigs sound
16 gigs maps
----------- +
26,8 gigs |

hope its not a fuckup.
i am, however, in nz, so it'll probably take 12 hours to download the rest of the install

coz the first bioshock was plagued with shitty mouse accel, shitty fov, shitty performance and physics animations capped at 14fps. it took weeks if not a month before this stuff was fixed by the community through non-standard UE ini's, although last i heard the physics is still simulated @ 14fps.
irrational can't make me forget their last abortion of a pc port by a few blog posts about how great the pc version is this time around.

Besides 30fps physics, first bioshock was completly fine on pc.

No... :S
It's still messed up where you have to go in and change several *.ini files to remove mouse acceleration which sucks donkey cock.
Then there were some other issues with their DRM (where again the pirated version worked flawless).
Anywho, it was still quite a good game and I enjoyed it thoroughly so this time around I actually paid for it. ^_^

just check their old technical support board for all the sound/winnt/nvidia issues ppl had back in the day, it still boggles my mind how they managed to fuck up a UE2.5 game so badly, i still had fun playing it but it was hardly the best it could of been with the tools they used. i will buy infinite when i am convinced they didn't make the same mistakes with UE3.
