My question mark was towards there being 10 additional GB's of Hi-Res textures at launch. Has such a thing been confirmed?

I'd like to know this too. Preloading was about 15GB, which seems a normal size for a game these days. Are the hi res textures included already, or will there be an additional download on release day?

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

I bought the original tinbox version and never had any issue with any DRM. As for editing .ini files, that's something I always do anyway, esp. when it comes to Unreal engines. I'm a tweaker. I had no issues with Bioshock 1 except I had a hard time to take a break from playing.

Well, there were people who had issues with the DRM (I was not one of them, pirates...yay!) so that's great for you. ^_^

And the ini tweaks, we're not just talking about editing one or two files but a heap of them ( around 4-5 if I'm not mistaken) which are in different libs and they seem to kind of work.
Anywho, the mouse smoothing issue (still) IS annoying. Razz

So is there any region that unlocks this game earlier than normal (VPN Very Happy)? Smile

Well as I mentioned before there is, probably mentioned by others too by now.

Anyways here's the US release time.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=us
(1 day, 14 hours.)

UK and most of Europe.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=uk
(1 day, 9 hours.)

Asia (most of it) and Australia
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=au
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=tw
(1 day, zero hours.)

Japan (Just for fun)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=jp
(1 month, 3 days and 1 hour.)

And Russia
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8870/?cc=ru
(1 day, 6 hours.)

Should cover nearly every region.
(Obviously use a VPN connection against Taiwan or near there or Australia to unlock it the earliest.)

(Steam only counts the full hours so you can subtract about 30 minutes from the above as of this post.)

Yep the original release date here is midnight from Monday to Tuesday but it can be trimmed a bit further, right about 15.00 Monday afternoon. Smile

Unsure why the US release date is later, usually it's faster but I guess it's due to the game unlocking on Tuesday for most countries.
(Instead of Tuesday US and Friday EU as is common.)

(With some minor difference for Australia and most of Asia.)

official source writes there are two installs 20 gig and 30 gig

1 + 1 adds to higher pc stuff , on xbox this game is 6,8 gig big [1,6 gig are Bink Movies in 720p , 2 gigs are the Voice files that are ENG/FR/ITA/SP/GER , 3,2 gig are map files]... so even 20gig are WOW for a Single Player only game BUT 30 gig .. 10 gig extra ??? tessellation files ???, knowing that Ue3,5 maps are crappy big ... i can assume some hidden files

so knowing that BINK are SHIT in compressing department and are only used for multimedia prting compatibility... add 3x to movies and sound , both of those are bink compressed and 5x to map files knowing how UE 3,5 works and you get :
Code:
4,8 gigs movies
6 gigs sound
16 gigs maps
----------- +
26,8 gigs

Link to the mentioned "OFFICIAL SOURCE"?

why does it say "recommended 30gb" then?do they pull these numbers from ass? lol

or is it related to packed files -> unpacked process?

So we should be able to VPN unlock this one at some point tomorrow. The only thing with that would be downloading 10GB of the high res textures through Australia or Japan VPN.

I've read so many enthusiastic comments about the game that I'm starting to get hyped as well. J Browman (I've always been to be honest, but nowadays I always adopt the cautiously pessimistic approach which makes the disappointments less painful grinhurt)

Just assuming, 'cause didn't sleeping dogs do a separate download for high res stuff when it was released? Also the game is supposed to be 30GB, so another 10GB worth of textures would bring it closer to that. Who knows though, I might just be talking outta my ass.

Have you guys forgotten Max Payne 3?
A game can easily use up 30GB if it has a lot of 1080p videos, high quality audio files and lots of unique assets.

Anyone recommend a good free trial proxy to use for unlock in Australia tomorrow? I remember using one for the Mass Effect 3 to unlock it early but can't remember the name of it.

Will there be a ban risk if we try playing the game on the proxy or should we plain and simple activate it and go offline to play?

I always use the VPN to activate and unlock, then switch to offline, still a ban risk when you reconnect but a very small one

The idea that some people are willing to risk their Steam accounts just to play a single player game a couple hours earlier is incomprehesible to me.
