Yeah just replaying it. It's stunning

Only problem might be if the game does need to download 10gb of info on release, Trial VPN might not like that/go at a reasonable speed.

if it was a multiplayer game, would it be more worth the risk then?

Another ignorant comment of yours, how surprising.
Valve doesn't ban anyone for activating the game you bought early. Not now, not ever.

It might be true that none of few have been banned for unlocking early. I did happen upon this thread "http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2939616&page=2"
A valve employee said people should not do it as it's a violation against the SSA. I doubt they will ban, but there is still a chance of it happening.

Think i did it with Deus ex as well. Problem now though is the "rumored" extra 10gb download which you have to do after activating the game while still on vpn, so it's not just a unlock and go, unless you prefer having shit textures that is. | Where the hell did that rumor come from anyway?
Probably started by some scumbag who is going to pirate the game...

I guess it's from the install taking about 13gb less space than the recommended requirements say.

If it is indeed there, i wouldn't count on it being available before after midnight. Damn, we're going to have terrible speeds if it's not fake.

Do you have a Valve official statement on that? No? Then shut your mouth.

Not the first time through, from the sounds of it listening to IGN podcasts, I would be dying way too much and worrying about ammo and stuff too often to enjoy the amazing story i'm sure it has.
Definitely for subsequent playthrus

are there any other modes?
glad to see some devs thinking of people who can keep their mouth closed and still breathe |
Indeed!
Quote: | In 1999 mode the player picks a specialization and sticks with it, and his or her actions will be ruled by that choice. Ammo will be hard to come by. Every small sliver of health will be precious, and if you die you'd better have the resources needed to revive, or it's game over.
For the hardcore gamer, 1999 mode could be the best thing that's ever happened. And for the non-hardcore gamers?
"They're gonna hate this mode," said Levine. "That's okay — it's not for them." |

i probably wont play 1999 mode the first time (if its even accessible on the first playthrough). i like the idea of seeing everything the game has to offer, and just enjoying the story and the gameplay variety, and then playing again for the challenge.

Well, since i have a plan to get some friends over, smoke weed and play Bioshock all night (hoping to get it done in 1 session), i'm not going to even try 1999 mode

IGN said in a podcast that there is a code you can put in to play thru it on your first playthrough but they werent sure of it yet

I don't need to justify why I'm not playing 1999 mode on release. I don't fool myself with that "need to increase difficulty or derp!" crap. I might try that mode for a second kinda distant in the future playthrough though.

ok fine but i think youre kinda missing the spirit of my post...
1999 mode forces you to specialise, so youre missing out on a lot of the experimentation and variety that comes from being able to pick everything, so its a challenging, yes, but much more rigid experience - and to me, thats the kind of thing id be eager to play after ive had the kid-in-a-candy-store experience... thats what i was getting at with my post.
i was not debating about what things have greater merit in how one enjoys a game.

Just closed steam and activated the VPN in NZ just to test, still says I have 20 some hours to go until unlock. Is there something I'm missing?
