I think the game looks gorgeous. I'll take great art design over flashy graphics any day.
Can't choose between normal and alternate post processing, though. Alternate clearly looks better on screen shots, but I found normal more suitable during gameplay. Now, if it just wouldn't blur the scene so much, that'd be great.

The attention to detail in this game is amazing. While there are some crappy textures, the art style and the little details make it look beautiful. The atmosphere completes the experience with some great music and good sound effects.
They do recycle character models a lot though, that's a bit disappointing. The framelock thing is also strange since in some areas it locks at 60 and in other areas it locks at 30 (while I get 70+ in the same area without it). Strange.
edit: the checkpoint system also really sucks since it seems to save rarely.
edit: aaaand forcing Vsync through CCC doesn't work. Goddammit.

Disabling bloom completely (by turning DephtOfField to False, because that's how UE3 games work for some reason) makes the game kind of ugly, so I stuck with the alternate option since it makes it much more pleasant to the eye. I don't know how nobody noticed, but with alternate there's no edge glow on objects from the bloom (on most of them that is...). As for the DOF, I don't really know, they're both fine depending on the scene, but both are also a bit overdone in most scenes.

Anyway, seems that i'm not the only one with stuttering issues, quite alot on guru3d forums complaining about it aswell. |
Yeah, although I haven't had a chance to play yet, people are saying it is an issue with VRAM running out. The game reaching well over 2GB in some cases.
Going to have to check with MSIAfterBurner when I get home. Really hope this is not the case.

It's about the same as bioshock but with some added things that you can use to help you out.

Someone on guru3d actually measured 2.7GB vram peak usage

Anynoe know how I can move them game from my HDD to my SDD without having to re-install it via steam?
Is that even possible?
I noticed that the game "lags" and my HDD starts being utilized more when what it seems to do is load textures and that's sometimes annoying.
Edit:
nevermind...
Seems I found it and it's a hassle to do.

You were talking about the blur. I was talking about the bloom, so nope, you didn't say it or maybe you're referring to that as blur? In which case, sorry, but that's not what I call it so I couldn't have known. And the game runs pretty nice considering how it looks, but it just feels very jittery and it does have random fps drops for no reason. |
Heh, yeah with the blurring i basically meant what you said better, my lack in English sometimes is horrible, i know

Also this annoyed the hell out of me:
1. When you are in aim mode you lose HUD crosshair and your mouse movement being slowed down by 40%-50%. After a while I realized aiming is rather pointless when you can shoot more precise in normal mode with constant-speed movement and crosshair. Besides, close up isn't that strong and it does not remove the weird "fog of war" in distance (it exist even in the houses, what).
2. Similar situation with running. Your free-look is limited as well and mouse speed reduced. This is kinda pathetic, because the only reason for that could be so-called "realism" but at the same time this realism being shattered in pieces by the fact that you can shoot 2-3 bullets into a cop's face from 1 meter distance and he still survive it!
3. Fire powers seems to be pointless, all the enemies I throw it at easily avoid it (unless you are very close but in this case it makes small amount of sense using it, you can just melee them).
4. The headshot thing I mentioned before. There is no way to conserve ammo carefully, you literally spent 100-150 bullets for 4-5 enemies. Basically, resource management a-la dead space. Not a bad thing but I don't feel the value of ammo and noticeable difference between weapons. Easy come easy go.

Game requires A LOT of RAM (besides VRAM) on ULTRA-HIGH/HIGH. Be sure to close browser, AV, and all other non-critical programs on the background. It should have listed 4Gb as a MINIMUM requirement.
JanKowalski82 wrote: | Need some help. I seem to have some issue with wet surfaces. Is this supposed to look like that? The first screen actually looks better than how it looks in game. There are a lot more of those white thingies, guess they flicker and the screenshot captures only some of them. The 2nd and 3rd are more or less accurate.
[...]
Screens are on medium setting I switched to for testing, but the issue is the same on ultra/high. |
Yep, same here.
