Got to the Trial of Archimedes today and beat it on my first try on normal. Didnt see the hub bub about it since you can spam magic like crazy. Since finishing off medusas gives you tons of blue orbs. And the hades magic seems to disrupt the annoying lightning cunts pretty handily.
I almost died against the animated statue though.

Well, I said I would wait to buy this, but I caved and got it anyway....
About 4 hours in, and I'm just not getting that same GoW feel as I did with the other games. I do like the new weapon system, and being able to pickup random swords and shit laying around. Haven't seen many puzzles yet, and the ones I have were easy. The gore is nice, combat feels like GoW to me, even if the controls are a bit different. I just can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by what I've seen so far, I know people have said the game picks up a bit later, but I hope it does before 30 min of game is left.
Either way, still got a bit to go through so maybe I'll feel a bit better later on. Right now it feels like a 6/10 for me. Lets see how it goes...

Ive been playing about 10 hours so far. I got stuck on a lot of puzzles but with persistence and resisting the urge to Google, I always figure it out, which gives a great sense of achievement I have to say! Some of the battles are tough and the enemies are relentless in places and really take some killing but Im loving it.  Spoiler: | No idea how far to the end I am but Ive just arrived at the Lantern of Delos after rebuilding the status of Apollo which I found super impressive. The level design is truly awesome. |
Im saying a solid 9/10 so far. I doubt the score will drop unless the Trials of Archimedes is as bad as Ive heard

Ooook so I got to the Trials of Archimedes. Gave it 6 attempts and my fucking controller runs out of charge midfight! For some reason it must be the first time a game has never paused when the controller loses charge. I then get turned into a statue and whipped into rocks! Aaaarrrrgghhhh!
Anyone got any tips for beating the trials? There are no health chests and barely any heath from defeated enemies! I find using the Amulet of Uroborus and Oath Stone of Orkos a lot helps, especially the Amulet of Uroborus as it really slows down enemies and allows you to do the damage. I can get as far as the moving flame section with the hammer dude. :/

But I run out of magic too early! Maybe I will try saving the magic and not using it for the earlier enemies.

Well after about another 4 attempts I completed the Trials of Archimedes and the rest of the game! I was kinda expecting more but it set the scene nicely for the original God of War since Ascension is a prequel. Great game and I am tempted by New Game+ but I might have to pass on the 'Titan' difficulty I unlocked lol.
One thing I am wondering is where is the sexy mini game all of the others have had?! Is it a hidden secret I didnt find!? :/

there is no sex mini-game, people saw images of a scene near the beginning of the game | Spoiler: | where kratos is lead into a harem with naked chicks and it turns out its a trick by the furies |
and assumed there is a sex-minigame there like with the other games, but there isnt one.

you can use it with all weapons, but you have to upgrade them to get the magic attack, ares already has it initially.

A little further in the game now, I think about 6 hours, and definitely feels better than it did when I first started out.
Will probably finish tonight, and while I still don't feel its as strong as the other GoW entries, still is a decent one.

It kind of felt like one of the PSP games. Fun, but it lacked that grand quest that the GoW1, 2 and 3 had. Seems like they were just sending you about willy-nilly and putting silly puzzles in your way every once in a while. Also the frame rate was worse than GoW3, and it also has WAY more jaggies. They must have run out of horsepower for AA. Best fight IMO was against the Prophet, and i loved the Total Recall reference as I was thinking about the movie when i first saw the guy.
The rage meter i am conflicted about. On one hand it makes combat more strategic, but on the other hand it means you almost never do anything but square+square+triangle. And when you do get your meter filled up, you want to USE it or you will lose it from one good smack... so you just do the special attack (L3+R3). Pros and cons but IMO cons outweigh.

just finished the game, it was not as epic as the 3rd part and felt like enemies spawned every centimeter on the map
last fight in The Trial of Archimedes i had to replay like 15x before i passed, i almost gave up
