I just got to the room where all the preorder DLC is, do you think by using the gear I'm getting an unfair advantage and basically cheating. Surely whatever is there you'll get later on in the game ?.

They are all exclusive so you won't find the gear bonuses anywhere else, those little power-up flasks also mean you can get somewhere around +9 to each "stat" depending on how many more of them you find throughout the game.
Extra money doesn't really change much and the weapon skins are mostly cosmetic though apparently there are two that also offer a damage bonus.
(Though those weapons already kill regular enemies in one or two hits even when they are not upgraded.)

They are the usual pre-order cheats.
You cannot use the dlc commands for different dlc in ini of one you have in legit version.
Trick works with cracked version. On legit version not only it not unlocks, but blocks the unlock of the dlc you own.

I've played for about an hour and there's a lot of stuff I like ... and some stuff that's pretty bad.
- linear as fuck
- far too much bloom
- checkpoints - is this a 1994 console game?
- too much consolitis in places
BUT they at least let you expand your FOV, let you turn off the stupid flashing items for blind idiots (can you tell I hate it when games put huge arrows pointing at what you can pick up?) and the mouse look is pretty solid.
In general, I like it. The checkpoint thing annoys me greatly, however.

This can be improved by enabling DX11 post processing ("alternative post processing"). It doesn't smear the bloom all over the screen like the DX9 version does.

^^
Most of these things can be avoided with correct settings and correct difficulty.
Don't blame the game for something that could had been avoided
And what is that stupid saying about checkpoints, what the fuck does that have to do with that year? Furthermore, it's been like that in virtually every game these days, so why hate on it specifically in this game?

I bet that was the point though, whatever the reason.

well just finished it.
i think the plot was overall pretty predictable, im sure most people saw the twist (two twists i guess) coming, but i think it was handled (the HOW as well as the pacing and delivery) really well.
as for the ending:
Spoiler: | my understanding was that, so as to not fuck up all the timelines and leave a comstock alive and an elizabeth kidnapped, and stop the future destruction, the 'elizabeths' all simultaneously drowned all versions of booker - both the would-be baptised and un-baptised ones except for ONE unbaptised booker, thus resetting his past to a single instance (path), which brings together booker and his baby daughter in the end? |

The only thing I didn't really like about her was
Spoiler: | a surprising, at least to me, lack of emotion late in the game when she learns the truth... It felt like she kinda went all heartless on me, which I thought was a bit unfair, and kinda out of character once she got to see how hard booker fought for her, and how much he cared. |

Perhaps that is what bugged me as well, but...
Spoiler: | i do think that she is that way most of the game, except the first time she comments on booker killing someone, if they had just kept that kind of sheltered mind set she would have come across much more likeable, well, to me at least, instead of turning into half a joke. Would also have made the ending have more of an impact once she turns the all-knowing up a notch.
But i guess the developers prefer to keep the tone more light, which is a shame because i liked the darker tones of Bioshock. |

It seems to me like the Elizabeth we got in the final game was very much a shadow of what Levine originally intended (and promised) her to be, if you recall some of the early interviews and demos.

I honestly expected the songbird Spoiler: | to freaken MATTER, More than just being a harmless cutscenes piece, and a fire and forget weapon. Her connection to it was so strong and complex, it's a shame that it was so... irrelevant to the core game? |
It's a great game, but it really does feel kinda neutered to be honest... Wonder if it was a time issue, budget issue, or console audience issue.
Still head and shoulders above most games in recent memory, but it wasn't perfect, and felt a bit lacking at times, keeping it from massive greatness.

ok that second line that i didnt spoiler was a completely different thought... not sure why you think it was relating specifically to the songbird...
and more to the point i dont even know WHY you think that sentence about the game feeling a bit neutered was directed at emotions...
