Maybe it's a stats thing like in Sleeping Dogs? Like it compares real-time to your friends stuff like X minutes undetected, X stuff stolen at Y value...

Yeah that would be something that doesn't alter the gameplay which is ok. At least the fact that co-op and competitive pew are out is kinda comforting. Could also be a "contracts" mode with opals and jewelry instead of targets to kill Very Happy

Yeah, coop like in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory would be excellent, where cooperation was actually crucial to your survival and you could get in buildings in different ways So Much Win

Yeah, these concept arts look definitely more Thief-like (albeit they're quite bright, but we know that complete obscurity is too hard for this generation of gamers *hurr*).

Now let's hope they don't ruin these sexy environments with the usual invasive HUDs, QTEs, and Mark 'n Execute's Razz Laughing

With luck there'll be at least some degree of modding support (that is, devs not actively trying to make it as hard as possible) and we'll get some proper lighting via mods. Hopefully fan missions get going as well - there's literally thousands of FMs for Thief 1 and 2, and the very best of them are just as good as the official levels were (or better, depending who you're asking Razz).

The tagline is definitely familiar Razz. Looks alright, I hope the visceral slow-mo jump in the end is just for scenic purposes and not part of the gameplay like Absolution's glorious escape scenes Cool Face

Will they be using Stephen Russell as Garret's VO artist again?

Why would you try a stealth game that does not force you to be sneak all the time?

It's kinda of playing an TPS and saying: Well, im hope im not forced in playing this on a third person camera.

Playing a survival horror game, well i hope they don't force me to save up ammo/resources.

See my point?

no i dont really... developers arent stupid now adays, they understand that for a game to make economic sense they need to appeal to great many people... games such as hitman or dishonored are examples of this... you COULD sneak and do everything precisely and yes it might be extremely gratifying that way BUT you COULD also run and gun (albeit with some penalty perhaps)...so just cause thief focuses on the stealth part doesnt mean it'll neglect the action. atleast i hope it doesnt.

It's forced in some missions in Thief1-2, but not all.. One of the reasons why i prefered Thief3.

But yes i hope they arent forcing sneaking, it should be up to the player how to handle situations, otherwise there's little point in playing games imo.

Comparing it to a TPS where you can't change the camera or a survival game where you must save ammo aren't very good comparisons. In a survival game you could obviously act stupid and waste all your ammo and you will suffer for it. In a sneak type of game you should also be able to act "stupid" (being noisy) and suffer for it (e.g guards are alarmed so it will not be an easier route at all). A "game over" screen when wasting all your ammo in a survival game would be a really crappy and lazy approach, just like it would be in a sneak game when being noisy.

Here's hoping it offers something different to the likes of Dishonored and Assassins Creed - not just a pretty gothic theme on top of something that's already familiar to us all.

I sure as hell hope not, as it's painfully obvious that the person they used in that trailer is not a native English speaker (accent totally bleeds through at the "seizing the right opportunity" line at ~26 seconds.). Definitely breaks the immersion when they opt to go for VO artists like that. Odd, since its usually only really bad in German developed games (the X space series for example).
