There is something wrong with my game. Or my specs? Whenever I enter the game, the framerate is OK. It's around 30-50, open areas can make it drop to lower 20's but i still dont have a problem with that if it doesnt drop a huge amount, making me unable to aim.
But whenever I take a step forward, frame drops buy 20, and increases 15-20 after half a second. Like 50-20-45-15-50. It's annoying and unplayable.
I have HD5870 and latest AMD beta drivers. The game is set to high specs. I guess it's some sort of false memory transferring?
Anybody got this issue?

Driver / low volts maybe? |
I've got the same problem (brand new GTX 660) tried other drivers, adding voltage, putting factory overclock to stock speeds, messing about in nvidia control panel, changing power settings, changing game settings, it still crashes.
The weird thing is every once in a while it runs fine until I stop playing, when I load up again it crashes over and over, many attempts later it'll play fine.
All other games and benchmarks are fine.
On the Crysis forums it's happening to nvidia and ati users, in single and multiplayer, Crytek haven't even acknowledged it as a problem.

wtf is wrong with the stealth system in this game, I just started playing and as soon as I kill one guy, everyone is suddenly alerted and looks my way. then I kill the second guy and suddenly they start attacking, even if there was no way they saw me

are you maybe doing a melee attack instead of a "stealth kill"? approaching an enemy from behind cloaked (<- dunno whether that's necessary tbh) you should see a pop-up message triggering that tells you which button to press to perform a stealth kill. iirc stealth killing never alerted any foes, even closeby

Im using a GTX 680 and there is definitely something wrong with the game. The GPU usage is nowhere near 99%. It stays in the ~50% range and jumps around

It should hardly surprise anyone that Crytek places heavy emphasis on graphics, given its games are designed to be visual showcases. CEO Cevat Yerli, however, seems to believe they are the most important thing, valuing them at 60% of the overall game experience.
"People say that graphics don’t matter, but play Crysis and tell me they don’t matter," he boasted to Xbox 360 Magazine. "It’s always been about graphics driving gameplay.
"In Crysis 3 it's the grass and the vegetation, the way the physics runs the grass interact and sways them in the wind. You can read when an AI enemy is running towards you just by observing the way the grass blades. Graphics, whether it’s lighting or shadows, puts you in a different emotional context and drives the immersion."
Immersion is, to Yerli, the number one thing that gets a player invested, and draws them into the world. Since graphics drive immersion, the logic therefore is that graphics are the most crucial element.
"The better the graphics, the better the physics, the better the sound design, the better the technical assets and production values are -- paired with the art direction, making things look spectacular and stylistic is 60% of the game."
It all depends on what kind of game you're making, I'd say. Sure, immersive, realistic graphics work for some titles, but I dare say nobody felt that Super Meat Boy or Antichamber exactly suffered for their less extravagant approach. In any case, making visuals more important than actual good gameplay seems to be a somewhat superficial idea, especially since I doubt many people who play Crysis really watch grass moving to detect enemies -- not when the game has an option to tag and highlight enemies. The game itself is contradicting what Yerli says -- which doesn't help my impression of him as someone easily wowed by pretty pictures.
One would be insincere to claim they don't appreciate swanky graphics, but I think most of us would prefer good games if we had to choose one or the other. If visuals were all that mattered, the PSOne, PS2, and Wii wouldn't have dominated their respective generations. Crysis would be the hottest selling FPS instead of Call of Duty with its perpetually reused engine.
I don't think gamers are as obsessed with graphics as "AAA" developers are, really.

I think it's true for generic AAA-titles. There's not a lot of "game" there so it needs the graphics to hold your attention even for a moment.

What next?
Oh and story by jim derpling, who always liked to suck that crytek cock.
What a surprise.

Crytek says graphics matter a lot.
Next thing you know a F2P company will say micro transactions are the future, a PS4 dev will say the PS4 is the best hardware ever and Rad Games Tools will say it's all bout dem biks.
SHOCKING NEWS.. not.

Quote: | I'm finally releasing my Crysis 3 Tweak Guide, although obviously it is quite late and probably of little use to most people. I apologize for the almost six week delay between its completion and public release - this was outside my control. As I mentioned in a previous update, because of these repeated and lengthy delays, I have chosen to cease writing game guides for Nvidia. So this is the last game guide I'll be releasing until I find another sponsor. For anyone interested in the behind-the-scenes details of my three years of work for Nvidia, and just what went wrong with the Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 Tweak Guides, I've prepared an article entitled My Nvidia Story. |
Going to start reading the nvidia story now

It was a rather interesting read but nothing too surprising, guide itself is very good even if it's more of a settings comparison with some advice and performance charts.
(Still it's very detailed and a good start for learning how to customize the game settings further or just understanding the settings better though the official cvar utility and it's documentation already provide a nice insight into this.)

Poor Cevat, he's so desperate. After all these years he still can't figure out how to implement solid gameplay in his projects, let alone a coherent and interesting story.
Good tech and graphics!1 are his only lifelines left, without them his games would be completely forgettable. Oh wait, they already are anyway

They really are. I had actually put quite further back into my memory drawer I played Crysis 3 a month and a half ago. Even the phenomenal graphics are rather forgettable.

Just finished it finally, atleast its good showcase for what PC is capable of, just so stunning graphics. Not a bad game, still better than the second one, first one still remains the best.
